I got bored of Marvel movies 3 years ago, they churn these things out like nobody's business and it's all the same movie, will give this one a chance but I'm betting it's more of the same.

Only decent one I can remember in the past few years was the 2nd Captain America movie, first half of the movie had a kind of thriller-ish Bourney kind of vibe to it then in the second half there were flying aircraft carriers and all the other overblown shit these movies throw into the third act and I peaced out....ugh.
Well that is kind of the genre you are explaining. Did you read the comic books as a kid?

Nothing wrong if that is not your thing just as RomCom's are not mine. I just wouldn't cmplain in a RomCom movie thread that all these RomCom follow a RomCom formula.

(not suggesting your post is inappropriate or anything)

I liked the first few that came out, but between Marvel, DC and whoever else these things have just become boring. Boring villains, shit characters, average acting by decent actors phoning it in, they just aren't interesting films. My favorite film is Goodfellas, none of these movies is going to get near the performances in that movie, they've become filler. Someone said in a review a while back about one of the Transformers movies that Michael Bay had made explosions humdrum...that's how I feel about these movies, they've been done to death.

Watchmen was decent actually, purely because the source material is far superior to the usual Marvel dross. Like I said I'll give this one a chance, the political angle to it might make it a bit different.

ya it sounds like the genre is not really your thing which is fine. It certainly was never going to compare to Goodfella's which are character driven pieces.

Don't forget that goodfellas was also based on real events. So the comparison is bad on many levels.

It sounds like you don't like the genre. Nothing wrong with that, but its very apparent you don't get what the movies are even about.

I hope this pans out well. The Black Panther that was in the new run of Aquaman was a pretty interesting character. A man of royal blood who uses passed down technology to protect his African kingdom. He isn't just a super hero but a politician and king as well. Aquaman himself is pretty interesting himself as a superhero that everyone thinks is a joke but is actually one of the more powerful ones.

{<huh}

Scratch that. Couldn't have happened. Aquaman is DC and Black Panther is Marvel. I must be think if a DC character that is very much like Black Panther.
I'm interested in who you are talking about now.

PC garbage, might be a good movie but 8.6 and a 100%? WTF

Reminds me of Get Out. Decent movie but didn't deserve the praise. White people are so afraid of being called racist.

That pisses me off when white folks get a bunch of guilt when it comes to critiquing a major black film. I can't tell you how many white friends I have that are acting more hyped than usual for the movie and most didn't even know Black Panther comics existed. Get Out was pretty damn good but I agree some white critics were over praising it a tad bit. I really enjoyed it though.

Don't get me wrong, as a black man and comic nerd, I am thrilled to see a majority black film get so much push and hype from Marvel. Also, I love the fact that a young black director like Ryan Cooger is getting some serious shine and which could lead to more big projects in the future.

I believe the movie is going to be great and I'm going to an early screening with my dude.

This movie is ignorant as hell. How come all the black woman have no hair in Wakanda? You're telling me that a country has reached and advanced as wakanda can not buy some horse hair?

You thought the earlier mcu films were better than the later oneso

I'm right there with you. The new Thor was good though. You should check it out. Jeff Goldblum's character was the best thing the MCU has had in years.

Winter Soldier is an excellent film set around comic book characters. The rest of the MCU is just plot devices to keep getting through the movies. There's no real substance.

If you guys want to mess with some people that are complete fuckin wack jobs, there is a facebook group my friend showed called "christians against Black Panther"

I am going undercover joining this group and blasting the fuck out of these weirdos tonight

Catman and Bronze Tiger are DC characters. Both have cat-themed costumes and are peak human martial artists. Catman has claws on his gauntlets.

Give 'em hell

Glad that a superhero movie representing the blacks is getting good reviews. Was never a fan of Black Panther so I'll probably see it when it comes to home video.

I think Venom is the only comic movie I'm hyped for this year.

Yeah Boseman was so damn good in that movie.

Combine that with another Coogler/Jordan collaboration and I'm 100 percent on board.
