BLACK PANTHER Movie Will Set Up AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Black-Panther-Avengers-Infinity-War-Dragonlord.jpg

Its release remains more than two years away, but fans of Marvel's Cinematic Universe already have reason to get excited about the studio's Black Panther movie, which will apparently prove pivotal for the larger mythology of the Avengers.

"This one is important," Feige told Empire Magazine in its 2016 preview issue. "Not only do you get an unbelievable lead character, but you also get all of [fictional African nation] Wakanda which is a whole new setting and culture to explore."

While the plot of Black Panther remains under wraps, Feige said that the movie will be "a big geopolitical action adventure that focuses on the family and royal struggle of T'Challa in Wakanda, and what it means to be a king." T'Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman, is the Black Panther's real name, with the "Black Panther" identity being a hereditary one passed from Wakandan ruler to Wakandan ruler.

More importantly for Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, however, is Feige's tease that "T'Challa's story is very important to us as it links to the next Avengers films, which is why we brought it forward."

Originally scheduled for November 2017, the movie has been rescheduled twice: initially to July 6, 2018, and then to Feb. 16, 2018. Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 is scheduled to be released May 4, 2018.

How Black Panther will lead into Avengers is likely to remain a mystery until 2018, but it should be noted that a number of Infinity Stones remain undiscovered ahead of the announced "Infinity War." Could Black Panther's exploration of Wakanda include the discovery of one of the remaining stones?

Marvel's 'Black Panther' Will Set Up 'Avengers: Infinity War,' Says Kevin Feige

Comments: If the Infinity Stone is located in Wakanda, then it's probably the Soul Stone since the Time Stone is likely to appear in the Doctor Strange movie in the form of the Eye of Agamotto.

But will Marvel give Coogler the freedom to actually make the film he wants to make?

Press Release: It’s official, Marvelites: Ryan Coogler will step up to direct Marvel’s Black Panther, in theaters February 16, 2018! Chadwick Boseman will star in Black Panther after debuting as the character in the upcoming Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War,” in theaters May 6.

“We are fortunate to have such an esteemed filmmaker join the Marvel family,” said producer Kevin Feige. “The talents Ryan showcased in his first two films easily made him our top choice to direct ‘Black Panther.’ Many fans have waited a long time to see Black Panther in his own film, and with Ryan we know we’ve found the perfect director to bring T’Challa’s story to life.”

Coogler wrote and directed his first award-winning feature film, Fruitvale Station, in 2013. Most recently he directed the critically-acclaimed Creed, which earned Sylvester Stallone a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture.

Black Panther has been an important character in the Marvel universe for 50 years. He is the king of the technologically-advanced nation of Wakanda, and Panther has served as a member of the Avengers in addition to his many solo adventures.

Lupita Nyong'o in Talks to Star in BLACK PANTHER Movie

Lupita-Nyongo-Black-Panther-051216-Dragonlord.jpg

Lupita Nyong'o, who won an Oscar for her performance in 12 Years a Slave, is in negotiations to star opposite Chadwick Boseman in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther. Ryan Coogler, who wrote and directed Creed, is helming the comic book movie as well as writing the script.

Boseman and Black Panther were introduced in Captain America: Civil War, which crossed the $700 million worldwide mark in under a week and a half. The character, whose name is T’Challa, is the warrior king of Wakanda, Marvel’s fictional African nation that is rich in an unbreakable alloy called vibranium.

N’yongo’s character has not been revealed although she will be the Panther’s love interest. Panther has a February 2, 2018 release date with production aiming to start in early 2017.

N’yongo last appeared as the alien Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and lent her voice for the wolf Raksha in The Jungle Book. She is also attached to star in DreamWorks’ Intelligent Life, a sci-fi drama currently seeking a director.

Creed wasn't a bad movie. The first half was good. Last half was atrocious. Some very big glaring holes.

I hope the director gets better and doesn't bring those mistakes into BP

I hope this movie has some good cameos. I'm now officially spoiled after watching all these superheroes now constantly teaming up. I need more Giant Antman stat!

Kind of wish the Russo brothers were doing Black Panther - they absolutely knocked it out of the park with T'challa. The fighting style, the morality vs intensity, sense of duty - all of it, just was so spot on. By far my favorite character from CA: Civil War.

Just went and saw Creed today which is a fantastic movie, so I'm all for Coogler getting this gig.

Yea I liked that movie as well. Wish they wouldn't made it so close to the original Rocky movie (like the new star wars did) but it was still good.

Agreed I hope they bring someone over to help black panther. Maybe he'll call on Cap to come help.

I'm guessing Cap will in this since he lives in Wakanda now.

Came up with a post credits scene that will never happen, as I'm want to do. Since this is the last MCU film before Infinity starts I expecting something big.

DURING THE MOVIE: Black Panther has Cap and a team scanning for other energy signatures similar to the stone in the Vision's head. While Black Panther is dealing with Klaw or Man-Ape he'll get an update from Cap about another stone being located and Cap will bring it in. Panther says that the council will be summoned when he has dealt with this threat.

So the post credit scene should have Panther and Cap entering a big temple in the Necropolis. As they walk into the temple Panther proclaims, “I call this meeting of the Kings of the hidden nations to order.” Sitting at a table is Black Bolt and Namor

while a third figure stands in the corner looking at a large Panther painting.

Panther: I see our honored guest is here.

Dr Strange comes out from the shadows and joins them at the table. With the Eye of Agamotto (Soul Stone) around his neck.

Strange: I am.

Namor: Black Bolt has received word from his scout ships on the stones off planet.

Black Bolt types onto pads that speaks in a semi-artificial voice: "My scouts have been searching the cosmos for other stones since they started arriving here, they have located four similar energy patterns to the stones that Stephen and the Vision possess."

Panther: What are their locations?

Black Bolt inserts something into that table that has the projector in the center of the table activate a large holographic star map. Black Bolt types.

Black Bolt's computer voice: "One seems to be in the possession of a group going by the name GOTG (Time Stone), one was recently hooping around the stars in the hands of your Asgardian friend and the big green monster (Space Stone), one is on Xandar under the protection of the Nova Core (Power Stone) and the last is currently being held onto by a collector of rare items (Reality Stone)."

Black Panther: And each of these is at least as dangerous as the ones on Earth.

Namor: I'm sure they are and we need to get a hold of them before someone else does.

Black Pather: Captain, I believe it is time we get into contact with Mr Stark and Thor.

Cut to Tony's Cap phone playing

As Stark sat in his lab, alone.

Fruitvale Station and Creed were both Fantastic , Coogler is fantastic. Chadwick Boseman is such a great actor as well. I saw 42 the other right and I'm reminded how much presence this guy has. Also in his intro scene in Cap 3 as he is talking to his father as his father walks away there was such a nuanced expression in his delivery a hidden history , thus is a short scene so might miss it but it encapsulates how good of an actor he is and this combo should lead to gold.

If the part he played in Civil War is anything to go by, then i have high hopes for Mr Panther. I've only seen the movie once, but i feel like Black Panther left a stronger impression than Spidey, but that could be because we've seen more of and familiarized ourselves with the other guy. Ultimately, it was a very positive showing for the newcomer on the big screen.

Hyped for this! Coogler has become one of my favorite directors
