Maybe luck is not fair, but I do truly believe Volkov wins that fight more often than not. And yes, when a 300 lb monster catches you clean while wearing those tiny gloves you will likely go out. BB has serious power.I don't call it luck, certainly circumstances and power though.
It's crazy he has reached the heights he has with such a limited skillset... but truthfully I don't think that's a knock against him, if anything it just shows another wrinkle to mma: all the skills in the world don't matter when a strong ass dude catches you clean.
Yeah, and it's crazy Blaydes doesn't get more respect. Sadly I think it is because his style just isn't that exciting to casuals. But he put in work on everyone not named Ngannou...Maybe luck is not fair, but I do truly believe Volkov wins that fight more often than not. I will stick by my statement that someone like Blaydes would destroy him.
Then again, HW is thin as fuck at the moment. So who knows how long Lewis can retain his top 3 ranking.
It kinda was but all his fights are like that. It’s hard to picture him as the second best hw in the world, he’s like a new tank AbbottAs much as I love the guy he's not that high level and won because the much better Volkov was trying too hard to be respectful and put on a show. Look at his reaction when he gets hit. He was a few punches away from being finished when he started complaining about his eye injury.
Someone who doesn't give a fck about such petty things as giving the fans their money's worth will easily have him. Blaydes would happily lay on him for 5 rounds.
He's ranked #2 for putting in the work and winning fights.I do think Volkov wins this the majority of the time. And his win over Francis was purely because Francis refused to engage.
I like Black Beast too, but he's ranked #2 due to luck/circumstances.
Someone like Blaydes finishes him handily IMO.
Volkov gets clipped and KO'ed more times than not in a fight with LewisAs much as I love the guy he's not that high level and won because the much better Volkov was trying too hard to be respectful and put on a show. Not sure that you know what a Fluke is. A fluke is something that is almost accidental and would most likely never happen. Lewis does that and tries to do that in every fight. The commentators called it as well. Volkov wasn't trying to put on a show he was trying to avoid leaving himself open to exactly what happened. Lewis is a physical "Beast" but he has skills. He has had a back problem that has been limiting him significantly in the cage and in his training. He has beaten a lot of the top fighters just below the cream of the crop. If he were to train full time, lose weight to about 245 lbs and work on cardio and skills for 6 months to a year he could beat anyone. I would love to see him do that and go with Stipe, Cain etc. If Blaydes isn't careful in how he engages the same thing that happened to Volkov could happen to him. It's HW and anyone can win at any time.As much as I love the guy he's not that high level and won because the much better Volkov was trying too hard to be respectful and put on a show. Your analysis is ridiculous. Ninja's fought Samurais not Spartans. It was no fluke, he threw that same combo and narrowly missed multiple times and much earlier in the fight, the fluke is that those 1 - 2 combo's didn't land then and end Volkov's night sooner.
Textbook Deadliest Warrior problem, " The Ninja can hurt the Spartan often, but the Spartan can kill the Ninja for that reason the Spartan wins". Volkov was able to hurt Black Beast, but Black Beast can KO Volkov.
I think Stipe, Cain and DC are hard fights for Blaydes, but I think Volkov and Tuivasa would lose to be honest.Yeah, and it's crazy Blaydes doesn't get more respect. Sadly I think it is because his style just isn't that exciting to casuals. But he put in work on everyone not named Ngannou...
and to be fair that was his first UFC fight. Back then Ngannou was fearless and let his power do work. I don't think Blaydes is a good match-up for anyone at heavyweight today. He's a smarter fighter when he has to be (just look at the Hunt fight).
However I think Blaydes would still lose to Stipe/(uninjured)Cain/DC and even Volkov or Tuivasa could give him problems. But he is still a tough match-up for any of those guys.
