In depth analysis of Saturday's main event at UFC 223 from one of the best on Youtube.

Always good videos. Max got this baby!!!!

As always he makes lots and lots of great points. Fishing for Guillotines has backfired on Khabib's opponents before so I personally don't think Max should try for it.

I think that level of strength and Khabib's constant mixing up of TDs, levels, and angles will be more than Max is used to.

He seems much more confident than in Max than most and I think he is exaggerating his chances a bit but still good info.

Max usually goes for front guillotines and doesn't concede the takedown while going for them. He's not pulling guard to get the guillotines, but i agree he Probably shouldn't invest in that.

Yeah, fishing for front guillotine against someone like Khabib is way too big of a gamble imo. Max has to play it safe.

I think he's right about Max's moving in for combos and stance switching at close range could back fire. I actually think that will be where Khabib gets him down. Max moves in, throws some shots, gets clinched and Khabib does his thing.

I'd be very impressed if Max can escape from the cage. Khabib is much more active on the fence than Lamas and Stephens.

Great video. I think great lateral movement by Max can be the key to this fight. Remember that in Jeremy Stephens fight Max completely shut down Jeremy by lateral movement, scoring points and not engaging in any prolong exchanges.

If he can do the same against Khabib then he can definitely win a decision. Max also has great cardio so maybe if Khabib slows down there is a change. The biggest question is how big is Max's injury and did he train at all during this off time.

BJJ Scout seems to be totally ignoring Max's ankle injury and the potential effects on his cardio. Max is also cutting down from above 170.

again the shitty robotic voice? so the poll he had was useless in the end. <DisgustingHHH>

My only concern is that Max gets taken to the cage a lot. He defends well but Lamas and Stephens aren't nearly as active in the clinch as Khabib.

I think if he can avoid the clinch as much as possible he has a chance. However, with his kicks taken away (or limited due to the injury and TD threat) it will be hard to escape clinching and shooting range.

Yeah, I was shocked at how often stephens was able to get in on max's hips and push max back to the cage. I'm not sure khabib can time Max as well as stephen's could, though. We'll find out. Max presents a different kind of challenge for Khabib than we've seen before—that's why I'm excited for this fight.

I won't pretend to be anything like as knowledgeable as BJJ Scout, but doesn't Khabib often use trips and throws as well as level changes for his takedowns? I think that might negate a lot of the things he mentioned Max does well against the cage.

I can't listen to the robo-voice. I hate those. But who is the person behind this analysis? It's somebody who knows what they are doing.

The problem with trips and throws is it requires you to get control of your opponent's body without the cage (usually) in play. Max has fantastic lateral movement which will make it hard for Khabib to get deep on anything long enough to trip or throw.

Called it before and now, Max is taking this fight.

To be fair its probably not unrelated to the fact that this fight was short notice and releasing it too close to the fight reduces the primary window of interest in the video.
