Hey there,

Not sure if this is an appropriate place to ask this or not, but it's my fave forum, so I'll have at it.

I'm moving to Saskatoon in a month or so, and I'm interested in finding a MMA / BJJ gym to train at once I've settled. I've really only been able to source 2 different places -

Champions (MFS) and Scheer's Martial Arts.

Does anyone from S'toon have any opinions of either of these clubs or alternate suggestions?

Many thanks.

don't go to Champion, it's a joke. Scheer's is your best bet for sure.

Sheers sucks man, I beat the shit outta a few people there. There training isn't too good. Alliance is the way to go tho, best MMA in Saskatoon.

Scheer's Martial Arts is very good

big facilities i hear. i think they have 400 square foot place there

very good basics and under good affiliate

the bigger question is why the hell you moving to Saskatoon?

I feel sorry for you, but like Iowa nothing to do out there but train

So did you ever make it to Saskatoon? Anyway, they actually have some pretty good MMA at the YMCA of all places, 4 days a week, for really cheap.

Really ? What's your name ? I've trained there for around 7-8years, so I'm just curious who you "beat the shit out of"...lol

Seriously, Troy Scheer (BJJ Brown belt under Marcus Soares) Great Muay Thai (Just returned from a month in Thailand) Largest Fight team in the city, Great training partners. Plus the facility is World Class. You can't go wrong training there.

I think the YMCA MMA class may have started training at Way of the Dragon Martial Arts, run by Dave Mah (Who is also a class act)

i have a 14 year old son who is interested in brazilian jiu-jistu, is scheers a good place for him to go? is it expensive? are there even classes for his age group in bjj? thanks in advance

Scheers is awesome. Your son would be really welcome to join everybody training. Its a very comfortable atmosphere for beginners and there are many people his age that train at scheers. There was a really good thread in the UG a few weeks ago, Im going to try and track it down.

edit: Im sorry, Im not sure what the prices are for training right now as I am in Brasil. I do know that they are comparable to the other martial arts gyms in the city.

Even though the thread is old, I thought I'd post here since it already exists, hope someone can help.

I'll be moving to Saskatoon next month for work, and I want to find a good gym to continue with my training. I do muay thai, and started grappling, BJJ and a bit of greco-roman wrestling a few months ago.

So far I've heard of the following:
1) Scheer's
2) Alliance
3) Way of the Dragon

Have the reviews of these gyms changed?

And any other training gyms out there?

Scheer's and Alliance are both really great clubs for different reasons. I don't even want to comment on the others. Feel free to send me a PM

Moving to Saskatoon in august,
would really appreciate a more detailed assessment on the Bjj club status.
price,
trainer back ground,
times a week training.
atmosphere.
ect
