I'm trying to convince my friend to come to a BJJ class with me, except, I'm finding it really hard to explain in verbal terms what it is, how it works etc.

Does anyone have any links to vids (youtube or otherwise) showing some highlights of BJJ either by itself or in a MMA competition. Something a beginner would be impressed by.

I was kinda looking along the lines of Chonan vs A. Silva with that killer heel hook. Even though, that's not essentially what BJJ is about, but just something that shows a situation where grappling is more effective than strikes. If you get my drift.

You can have him just sit in and watch if that's possible. But if you have to show them a video just find some bjj compilation on youtube.

the old "gracies in action" vids are always pretty good for the "grappling is better than striking" argument. *shrug*

I wouldn't bother if I was you, if you have to try and convince the person then they will probably give it up pretty quick or not go again.

Then again im being a bit of a hypocrit, im trying to get my wife to do jiu jitsu, she is slowly warming to it.

I frequently use a Jacare highligh to show people BJJ at its best. Unfortunately, his throws are so good that they get it confused with Judo until it gets about 2 minutes in.
