I have a buddy who is convinced drones have been stalking him for 3 years now. He believes it's part of some grand military/government conspiracy and they're after him for whatever reason. A star, a plane, a satellite, anything shiny in the sky, he can convince himself that it's a drone tracking him.

I mean, there is just a plain 'delusional disorder,' that I believe you can tack on as part of a larger diagnosis later, but I've had a number of clients believe something similar. There's a whole thing about "targeted individuals" you should look up.

After the covid saga he became a full time conspiracy guy (nanobots and graphene oxide in the vaccines, etc.)

He smoked a lot of weed and in recent times stopped because he had a couple scares (panic attacks but he doesn't want to admit it)

He's always been an unusual guy but it's definitely ramped up (he told me once that he keeps seeing the number 6 everywhere).

The main thing though is the drones following him conspiracy. Him and I will look at the same exact star or a plane, and he'll tell me I'm an idiot for not seeing it's a drone. If you try and disagree he'll start getting aggressive and call you names and delusional.

Granted, if he uses a lot of drugs, like if he overuses stimulants drugs, then, the apparition of psychosis-looking symptoms will be more likely (like what happens in type III bipolarity ; a lot of people actually have their first psychotic episode because they are being "too stimulated" by their antidepressant medication).

But yeah in that case, let’s also suppose that his career gave him brain damage (especially frontal lobe damage which I think can abruptly alter the behavior, in terms of aggressiveness or lowered inhibition ; confrontational and impulsive), and that brain damage was very unnecessary.

But still we should send a political message and throw him in a pit.
