BJ Penn Black Belt Short

At our gym we are a pretty laid back group of people, but I would consider it to be in poor taste if you wore those and were not a blackbelt.
 
they do make them with other belt colors. I've seen people wearing them with a blue belt and purple.

ohh really? Then that is pretty badass. If I could pick one of those up with my appropriate rank that would be solid. I think the wife will be informed of this for xmas time.
 
I think you guys are making way too big a deal about this. If you like them, wear them. If you don't, then don't. Plus, like someone said, they do have "BJ Penn" plastered all over them. I don't think anyone's actually going to think you are BJ Penn.
 
I was given a pair of the all black ones by a friend who got them for free from RVCA. It actually hides the belt alot.

They're comfortable shorts to roll in and I could care less if I'm not a black belt yet. If some one asks me if I am a black belt while I'm wearing the shorts (no one ever has), then I would tell them I'm a purple. Who cares. Not a big deal. If I were to claim I was a blackbelt, whether wearing the shorts or not, that's a problem. But I'm not going to refuse to wear a pair of perfectly good grappling shorts just because I don't have a black belt. I won't compete in them however. Training, who cares.

Also, they are a killer short for rock sliding. They are so slick you go about a million miles per hour out at the local rock slides up here. hehe

Exactly what I was thinking.
Wear what you like, anyone who hates on it can go fuck themselves.
 
They also come in blue, purple & brown, so why not get those? :P

Pretty sure these specific BJ Penn shorts only come with the black belt. Other brands have other colors.

Also, everyone in my gym knows what belt I am and none of them care if I wear these shorts.

i half agree with this. i rock belted shorts, which i think of as geeky. which is why i like them, i try not to take myself too seriously. the problem is there are colored belt shorts for every belt, and i think you should be rolling with the proper shorts. that's my take, do what makes you happy, but be prepared to keep answering to the fact that you are not a black belt.

can someeon give me link to a blue belt one?
