Bitcoin currency of the future?

Prices are back to where they were in December. You're acting as if the whole thing has collapsed: it hasn't. Prices are where they were a short time ago. Many people have still made enormous sums of money even at these levels.

You have to define the terms you're using. Manipulation typically means anything outside of normal market forces. You're being dishonest in the way that you're framing these terms. Either you're too stupid to know it, or you're doing it intentionally. When someone speaks of "market manipulation" they're talking about acts that are outside of normal market forces. If you mean to say that "manipulation" is wealthy people using market forces ie buying and selling large sums of crypto, then you're an idiot.
This is where the prices were in November. Bitcoin is currently barely holding $7000 and everything is still falling. its not like these have gone up and down over and over. And Tether's role in this is going to be huge. If they don't have the holdings, this stuff is going to lose huge percentages. I don't disagree that some people have made lots of money, but most were not smart enough to get out when the getting was good. People are STILL buying like mad...

Tether is a scam.

Yeah, people are buying like mad because they believe in their projects and they see this dip as a fire sale.

How else do you think they manipulate it, you dumb putz.
Well, if you're a central bank issuing currency you artificially make more fiat out of thin air. Not something you can do in cryptos. You can also manipulate by controlling interest rates for the issuance of that currency. Again, not something you can do. If manipulation is simply buying and selling how the fuck does that not apply TO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING?? HOW IS THAT SPECIFIC TO CRYPTO??

Guarantee you don't respond to those questions

Generally speaking, a rich person isn't going to buy 200,000 big Macs in order to drive the price of big Macs up so that they can sell them down the line.

When you have a product where the demand massively outweighs the supply, the price is controlled by whoever has the reins on the supply.

It's not specific to crypto. Happens in many industries.

without a doubt, bitcoin has been subject to price manipulation.

Price Manipulation in the Bitcoin Ecosystem

Bitcoin has been manipulated as fuck. When the shit goes down you can't buy, when it goes up you can't sell. lol. It was artificially propped up. I'm gonna laugh when Coinbase and others run out of money to give back to people.

Doesn't a fire sale indicate selling and not buying? People are still buying Bitcoin and e-currency in droves, the demand is still very high. Its confidence in the currency and the ability for Tether to hold it up that is in question (as well as legislation). As someone else said "Tether is a scam", that is more and more looking to be correct. They have to have something like 2.2 billion in holdings to support the 1-1 ration they are saying exists. If Tether crashes, so does Bitcoin and everything else. It could be as much as 80%. So it really has nothing to do with "Projects" and this is not a "dip". This was a balloon, a smaller inner balloon already popped, its just a matter of whether the big balloon pops. This is the largest ballooning we have seen in our lifetimes.

edit: Bitcoin down to $6750

Sorry about the crash Eisbär. ...you must be out literally tens of dollars.

Sorry man couldn't resist. I'm just glad Coinbase was such a shit show that I gave up on buying.

Obviously I wish I had cashed out when it was at an all time high (so I could reinvest at a low) but as a long term holder I'm just sitting back as I feel that even if tether came out to be a huge scam it would only be a temporary setback (and a huge buying opportunity) as it's only a matter of time before it will be easy and cheap to sell your crypto for fiat currency.

The author of the self-titled Tether Report is not alone in his or her suspicions. Tony Arcieri, an independent cybersecurity expert who formerly worked at Square, released a detailed look at Tether on Jan. 19 which came to similar conclusions and took it a step further.

"I, and many others," wrote Arcieri, "suspect Tether is being used to effectively counterfeit hundreds of millions of dollars of perceived value, which are being immediately reinvested into Bitcoin to keep it from collapsing."

It's not just random critics and cybersecurity experts making this claim. Nouriel Roubini, an economist and professor at New York University's Stern School of Business, is right there with them.

"Indeed Tether/USDT used to manipulate Bitcoin prices," he tweeted on Jan. 25. "Without this scam Bitcoin price would collapse by 80%. Regulators asleep at the wheel while $2 billion of fake $ created via this scam, half of it since December."

No worries, guys. I just bought another $100 in ethereum and instantly sent the price skyrocketing from 685 to 720. You're all welcome.

I wonder how much DerFraudsbar invested in crypto currencies today.

I mean look at these DIRT CHEAP PRICES!!!... He must have dropped thousands buying on this ONCE IN A LIFETIME dip.

Orrrrr... he invested zero because all his free cash is already tied up in cryptos... which are down over 70%.

well, that depends completely on what time frame youre looking at. which will be completely arbitrary.
