Should Michael Bisping retire after his fight with Rockhold? win or lose?

He has defeated Anderson Silva (MW goat) and now gets his long awaited title shot...

So regardless of the outcome, should he hang it up, or continue?

He's 37, has a bad eye, this is his 36th pro fight, he's won 4 of his last 5 (his loss being Rockhold).

Everything you listed suggests that his career is going very well.

I think he should and he probably will. Had a real solid run in his career and is one of the fighters who's made the most money.

He is set and will probably continue to frequently work in studio for the UFC.

Well it has been, but he also has the bad eye, is finally getting his title shot, and is 37 (tho the weight class itself is old). So do you think he should retire or continue fighting?

Do you think whether he wins or loses effects anything?

He might as well just do that. I mean, it's his call, he can just keep fighting since he's still a contender in a high level anyway, but he has a solid career behind him.

He's a true veteran in the sport. He's been in the UFC forever, he's always been really important to the business bringing the company's name to the UK, he beat a legend in Anderson Silva and finally got his long awaited shot at the belt.

Winning or losing, there's no denying: Michael Bisping is one tough motherfucker and has always given everything he's got inside the octagon. Nothing but respect for the Count.

I think so. He really doesn't need to fight for financial reasons anymore.

He's getting up there in age. That eye looks dangerously close to coming clean out of the socket.

He has nothing left to prove after finally getting that title shot imo.

If he wins he should (and will) defend the belt

I read "nothing but respect for that cunt" at first.

Giggled a bit.

Well, I love Bisping but he sure is a dickhead sometimes, so you're not entirely wrong. LOL.

But why not retire with the belt, and not risk injury, just leave on top?

But you're right, he could continue, make even more money, and have a possible 3rd fight with Rockhold..

The UFC should provide a new eye for Bisping after he done fighting. Infact Dana should donate his own. Then he would be known as one eye Dana

I'm a fan of Rockhold (yeah yeah, he's a douche, I know) and he's a huge favourite, but seriously, how awesome would it be if Bisping beat him? I can't even imagine Sherdog's reaction.

37 year old pro athlete with a bad eye's " going well" is a little different though, don't you think?

I don't it ludicrous to speculate that retirement is probably nigh for Bispinh

Wins Belt, Retires...

It would probably be the biggest upset in history given the circumstances of late notice and having already lost and all...

I feel like everyone is focused on how lopsided it will be, and how Rockhold will beat em, etc. etc. etc. but Bisping has arguably been one of the most important fighters in UFC for a very very long time, and this could be his last fight, and so I'm curious how he will handle the shocking win or disappointing defeat, and what impact that will leave on the division and the company?

Imagine if he wins, Dana would love to set up Rockhold Vs Bisping 3, or even Anderson Vs Bisping 2, and those would sell insane ppvs. But he could also just walk away with the title, and if he loses (probably will) he's still been beating everyone but Rockhold, and beat Anderson, so does he really hang it up on a loss? You know what I mean? its kind of a big deal, and I'm not sure how he'll handle this

I can see what you mean and it's a pretty interesting point. I mean, it's hard to predict how Michael would deal with a probable loss. Sure, we all know he's had one hell of a career so far, but even though he's not the best fighter in the world, he obviously wants to be a world champion.

But I think that, should he lose, it's just a matter of taking his time to understand and realise that he had a great journey anyway and he'll always deserve respect for being a real fighter. He always stepped up, he always delivered, no matter what - and that means a lot in a world in which fighters are always pulling out, bitching and moaning and not working as hard as they could. Hopefully, Michael will understand it if Luke does beat him like the odds suggest.

Would be awesome if he wins, but its highlly unlikely but you never know.... Win or lose I still think he has a few more fights in him... even if he is not fighting for a belt again, the dude has a family and still needs to make money... I think he could make a run at a hollywood career

I certainly can't see him retiring if he wins.
