Bisping had a terrible gameplan/performance

The head kick by Bisping was spammed and telegraphed way to much to be an effective weapon.
That kick hit Hendo enough times to have him running and shelling up the fight. Hendo was being bullied for 20 out of those 25 minutes.

Habits are hard to break, especially with the amount of pressure and stress that Bisping was under in the fight. When a fighter is under enough pressure he'll always go back to his oldest or most familiar instincts & habits. In Bisping's case that's the lazy jab and wrong way circling that got him creamed all those years ago and nearly cost him the fight again.

At the level of fighting and caliber of fighter Bisping is, to ignore "cookie cutter " rules of thumb is terrible. Hendo's telegraphed stiff movements are negligible compared to the blatant mistakes Bisping was making. For all the things he did right he did many wrong things and he is certainly capable of not making those mistakes. Brushing them off by saying I'm offering generic solutions doesn't change the fact that those mistakes were amateur and not indicative of the fighter Mike Bisping is. And yes they are beginner fundamentals which begs the question why was he making such bad missteps. Anyone who knows boxing would have mentioned the same things I pointed out. Implementing basic boxing fundamentals would save Bisping a whole lot of head trauma in the future. I root for Bisping and I'm not trying to bash him, though I came off harsh. But you're telling me you don't agree that those were some blatant mistakes he made?

Not at all. The biggest fundamental mistake he made by far was punching down. Keeping his hand low is fine when you know the entire purpose of the overhand is to come over and around the lead hand and shoulder. Circling away from the power hand sounds great until you realize Bisping was putting on pressure and trying to cut Hendo off. You don't stop an overhand like that with such simple solutions. They exist to give guys who don't know what else to do a better chance.

Bisping getting hit with right hands as he throws has been a constant of his career. He consistently gets nailed by right hands coming in. I used to have a collection of gifs of all the times Bisping got knocked down by right hands, like he doesn't know what they are, but they've been ravaged by time.

Sometimes you have your issues, and Henderson, credit to him, has always been sneaky with his right hand on the counter, is seasoned enough to see openings that others might not, and committed to being on the counter the entire fight. Bisping's gameplan was to move forward and gas Hendo out, but if you walk down a puncher, you get punched.

Bisping is a BITCH and a sham of a champion and i think he lost 4 rounds to Henderson, but tbh this was what he was always going to try to do. That's what bisping is good at.

Agreed, I thought Bisping looked very lackluster, I was expecting a better showing from him. he didn't even look 50% of what he was in Silva and Rockhold fights

He really over used the left head kick, and it wasn't there at any stage during the fight. Looked terrible but got it done.

I'm talking specifically about the first round.

Dan would've knocked out most MWs in that spot. Bisping was not going out again like that. You could see his heart play out.

Chris moose jacare and especially rockhold would've been put to sleep.
I was impressed with his will to continue but I believe Weidman would show the same will.

Imagine rockhold got hit in the first the way Mike did by hendo.

Luke would still be asleep.

This fight cemented just how tough Bisping is.

He should've been finished int he first. Ate a huge bomb on his feet then got some serious GnP put on him, busting his face up something fierce. He popped right back up and the second he was in his feet he brought it right back at Dan.

Bisping is tough as hell.
That's abt the only way bispings stock rose in my eyes. People have been saying he has a glass chin for years, he proved Saturday night that it takes a real nuke to put him out. Other than that, his performance was very underwhelming. I think he loses to rockhold, weidman, mousasi, brunson, jacare, or Romero. But I can't wait to find out.

He's known for blowing big opportunities, just like the English national team. He's lucky the Just Bleed God took pity on him.

After all the embarrassment and undoubtedly sleepless nights Bisping has had about the first fight, the guy still repeatedly circled into Hendo's power hand.

One of the lowest fight IQ's ever for his level. Right up there with Penn's.

3 out 3 judges disagree
Just bc he won doesn't mean his style doesn't have trouble dealing with Dan's style. If Dan was younger & could throw more than 12 strikes a round I think he would've won.

What am I refusing to think about? It's not unfair to make the critiques about Bisping that I pointed out. He was making them before he got rocked and is the precise reason he got put on his ass. I'm not drawing conclusions on what I expected to see, I'm doing it on what I and anyone who knows boxing/striking saw. I'm not being unfair to bisping, he did plenty right last night otherwise he wouldn't have won the fight. Maybe saying his performance was terrible is exaggeration, but it doesn't change the fact that he made some basic mistakes last night that could have been avoided.
As I noted on my previous comment.
All gameplan goes through the window the second you are hit in the face...
And in the case of Bisping, he took a H-Bomb and not only was able to recuperate, he kept attacking and staying busy.

What exactly did you expect him to do?
He kept on the outside, he kept kicking, but you can't only kick, specially against someone that can take you down.

But overall (and specially after the second H-Bomb), I am sure Bisping was on auto-pilot. And yet he continued to attack, continue to stay (as much as possible) on the outside, but m,ost of all, continued staying busy.

and that is precisely what won him the fight.

Hendo is a fucking legend cause he finds a way to connect with his right. Also his takedown was beautiful
