That must be news to the entire population of Oaxaca, who is predominantly indigenous/native, and to people in Jalisco, who like Canelo, have light skin, light eyes and almost no indigenous if any background. I've lived in Europe and disagree with you completely. I was born in Mexico and grew up in California and when I lived in Sweden, everyone assumed I was from Spain because of my darker complexion. I've been to Spain, Italy and Portugal many times, countries ruled by the Moors, and most of them look like this

Olive to darker complexion with dark features. Yes, there are quite a few white looking Spaniards and Italians but most carry the Arabic gene.

I'm half indigenous american and half white and people assumed I was from spain all the time too. Its not like there were alot of indigenous people in spain or italy to make an imprint like that. guessing appearances like that are vague.

you are using outdated colonial terms that have no meaning anymore. Its not many people, its the mexican government itself. You are arguing about an arbitrary cultural construct as if it isnt prone to change or interpretation. They arent going to come up with a completely different label for someone who is 60 percent native and 40 percent white or visa versa. In mexico they just use the term mestizo.

Race isn't just about skin color. They have Amerindian ancestry as well as Spanish and other European ancestry. Also, even with regard to color, Nick is still darker than Bisping and most other 100% white people.
