Biggest thing that grinds your gears from casuals?

Old timers who think everything was better back in the day and there are no stars now

Today the technical level of fighting is better than it ever was and there are tons of awesome fighters if you take the time to lock in for a bit
I was like that for a while myself like “who are all these guys”
There are more average fighters simply cuz the roster is so much bigger, but there is still a lot of talent if you pay attention

They always and only focus on the best and/or most popular. Their favorite sports athletes lineup would be Conor McGregor, Oleksander Usyk, LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo, Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, etc but is open to change as soon as they want to latch on to the newest best.

I grind my own gears in so many ways every day (I'm casual compared to some here).

Nah #1 is a practice clip between two fighters and the comments are talking and arguing about it like it was a real fight. Like "look at this clip of Pereira stuffing a takedown of an All-American wrestler one time in training, his wrestling is around All-American level".

Another super casual one is talking about a fighter's physique or how tough they look as if that's what wins fights. But this is ok, because these are people who don't follow combat sports at all. They're not even casuals.

Back in the day some OT Sherdoggers met up in a hotel and 2 grappled. Shared the bout on youtube. Was super gay.
It always ends up looking super gay with two unknowledgable people try to grapple. Those same "casual" people also think know bjj because they watch 10 UFC fights a year.

Speaking for a fighter or trainer, as if they know their personal thoughts.

Acting as if their opinion means anything in the big picture and thinking their opinion matters more then those who actually are within the sport as Fighters or Trainers.

Not knowing nor understanding the sport they claim to be a "fan" of. Then get in their feelings when corrected by those who actually know better.

They think grappling is boring and then a fight where two show no skills and just play rock em sock em robots, is a classic fight and shows a ton of skill plus heart.

Nowadays, it's the double champ, triple champ shit.

Casuals from the last 5 years think that having two fights as champions in different weights in somehow more impressive than defending your title for 5, 8, 10 fights.

So they have no appreciation for guys like Aldo, Anderson, etc.
Even Jones. "Yeah, but he didn't even fight long enough at HW!", completely desregarding the fact the dude had 15 title fights before that.

"Alex Pereira did it better."

<DisgustingHHH>

"Wrestlers are boring!"

Mind you, I have never wrestled in my entire life but this is MMA and I appreciate the skill required to TD and control the opponent. Groundwork is a chess game and that is exciting as well, if you put some time into understanding what's going on.

People upset with Khamzat were fighters who have bad wrestling, wanted DDP to win, or are casual fans.
