Biggest Fight in History: Conor v Khabib

Biggest fight in UFC history was probably Gan McGee vs Tim Sylvia

Gan was 6'10" while Sylvia 6'8" - TALKING BIG there.

Either that or Andre Roberts vs Harry Moskowitz. Both of them were over 300 lbs.

Or maybe Tank Abbot vs John Matua. Tank was close to 300 lbs, while Matua was over 400!

Then again, there's Emmanuel Yarbrough tipping the scales at 660 lbs vs 200 lb Keith Hackney.

Damn, so many big fights in UFC history!!!

I think if they get this MayMac pt 2 in the octagon put together, that blows everything out the water. Agree?

Floyd not that stupid to step into a cage and funny how Floyd not talking about mma any more.

wow im shocked that maybe he was using the media to keep being talked about.

Biggest in MMA/UFC history, sure. It only has to reach 1.7 million to do that (Conor/Diaz 2 holds the record at 1.6 million) and it wouldn't surprise me to see it accomplish that milestone. Biggest fight in the history of combat sports, though? Nope. Not even close.

I think it'll do either marginally better than Conor/Diaz 2 or only marginally less. Even if it does break MMA records for biggest fight of all time, it won't remain that for long. Conor/Diaz 3, Conor/GSP, and Conor/Mayweather in the octagon all easily surpass it.

funny how flody not talking about training mma any more. how eoodley not said anything that maybe cause Floyd was using the media to keep people talking about him.

you weren't around for it then

Nothing has ever compared to that fight since it happened.

Actually i was (although i would bet anything you were not). It was the hardcore fans biggest fight ever. Wasn't even close to the actual biggest fight.

That's just silliness. While any fight involving Conor will do big numbers, Khabib doesn't bring much to the table in that respect. A third fight against Nate or a fight against someone like GSP would do much bigger numbers. That's part of the reason the UFC won't set up Conor-Khabib, in my opinion. Why let the golden goose get mauled for 1 million ppv buys when he can take an easier fight against Nate and rake in 1.5 million ppv buys.

It'll be big anywhere from 1.2 mil to 1.5 mil ppv buys but it won't beat Diaz vs McGregor 2 in terms of ppv buys. The only fights that will possibly top that and have a chance of cracking 2 mil is McGregor vs Diaz 3 or McGregor vs GSP.

Its the biggest fight in MMA history, I don't give a shit about PPV numbers, those are always going to broken or skewed with time. That fine, was the pinnacle of MMA for it's time.

If you were around for it you would know it's true. NOTHING has brought that hype since.

Not enough casuals know the eagle to make it a biggest fight in history fantasy talk
What context? In UFC ? Hardcores?
Your home?
I really really doubt that only hardcore fans know Khabib.

If anyone watched the fight and think that K
Bet the house that Conor KOs him inside 2 rounds in a fight that looks the same as the Eddie Alverez fight. If anyone watched khabib vs Al and didn't see how Conor would piece him up. They know nothing of Marti arts
Khabib will fight the same style against Conor, they know nothing about MMA and fight strategy.

You are absolutely right, but casuals don't care about big fights. They care about the PPV numbers, about the drama and what new shoes Kardashian just bought.

It’s either Khabib, or GSP. I’m just not sure which it would be. I read somewhere that they don’t have ppv in Russia. If that is indeed true. Then the GSP fight would likely do the bigger sales. For a couple different reasons.

1. It would sell really well in Canada. And the United States still loves GSP too. 217 proved that.

2. GSP is the GOAT. If Convict beat GSP. That would be massive for his shitty legacy. ( Yeah, right...GSP would squash him, and get the finish ).

If a Khabib fight was for a belt. It would probably sell better but, who really knows. More importantly... Does anybody give a shit ?

Until the day when I get ppv points. I couldn’t care less if a fight had 200 buys. Or 2M buys.

Jones vs Lesnar will be bigger.

Bigger names, bigger guys. Both can speak English so they can promote the fight. The casuals care more about these two than a small Muslim from a Russian province.

To you people ranting about GSP who think it is 2009 still... look at the actual numbers. With a card that HAD THREE CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHTS on it recently he did less than 900k (and largely with a takeaway from many GSP fans that said "yeah he should stay retired now" at that). Great yes but shows that these "biggest ever" talks have no recent basis. There is absolutely 0.0 story behind GSP/Conor, and to be honest, zero rationality behind it other than "Conor twice fought at this weight class, going 1-1 against a LW cutting less weight" which is a pretty shitty rationale. Meanwhile we all know how much build-up Conor/Khabib has behind it already (by far biggest undefeated streak in today's sport vs biggest name, him taking Conor's belt, Conor returning from hitting bottom, the controversy, personal issues, a 1 BILLION+ largely untapped demographic now just hearing about Khabib, etc etc).

All that is summed up by realizing we're in 2018 really. Does anyone think that GSP vs Anderson would break all the records now too?
fedor /crocop you mean
He might be implying that the fight will never happen when he mentions Fedor/Randy
