Bigger fall from grace: Barao Or Woodley?

bj told his friend to hit him and then let him hit him in an emotional fit. then he mounted him and beat the crap out of him afterward. if you're talking about his career though, then yeah, that ended pretty badly.

That’s not what happened with BJ.

I miss the days Barao was in the top 5 p4p list
One of the most undeserving P4P ranking ever, up there with Miguel Torres. Funny how Sherdog was listing him that high, but Dom was mostly unranked during his WEC/UFC run even he nearly cleaned out the division, Dillashaw went unranked for a while, Aljo is unranked(deservingly so), Cody was unranked, but somehow Barao won the vacated belt with Faber, beating some lame top 10 was considered one of the best. Even currently Poirier has done nothing to solidify himself as a top 10 P4P.

Barao lost to another fighter , Woodley lost twice to a youtuber
the answer in easy

Fighters get old. Barao was young when he started losing and was thought to be #1 p4p without a lot of top wins. Woodley beat lots of top guys and in a proven division. There was no doubt he was legit when champ.

Woodley was also listed as the top prospect in the sport coming up. The road to the belt was bumpy, but it's not like with Barao, who's long win streak was on the regional circuit. Tyron faced good competition early in SF and fought for the belt there.

Erase Woodley from the record books. What a fucking embarrassment. Him ending the phone call w his kid to begin the press conference was pathetic. How do you look your child in the eyes after that one. How does your child go to school!!!!!!!!
Fuck woodley. Never thought id say it.

That’s not what happened with BJ.

He's with his hands down talking and not fighting back. It's still a bad look but the gif makes it seem like they're having a boxing match. No idea if the sequence in the end is before or after.

Woodley is shameless as shown by getting the bitch tattoo.
Got KTFO by Disney star. Doesn't top that for humiliation.
His lack of self respect is baffling. He made it out of the first fight with some dignity, and even a moral victory, by rocking Jake.

To come back and ruin it like this is a tough pill to swallow. It's not like he's broke. He made money from the first fight and bragged about all his new opportunities. He literally just left a movie set.

When these two were on top many people cited their MMA prowess amongst the best of all time. Lets take a quick look at how their careers have panned out since their time at the top.

Barao

When this guy was on top he was riding a 32 win streak going into the dillashaw fight, he had impressive title defenses against MacDonald, Faber and wineland. Many prophesied that he would beat Cruz and be known as the bantamweight goat for all times pretty much with a 34 fight win streak how could he not be?

Then Dillashaw Tore him in to shreds and then finished him in the 5th round. That title fight is considered by some (myself especially) as one of the most impressive title changes in the history of the UFC. Since being finished in that fight, Barao went 7-2, before being released from the UFC. he's currently boasting a 5 fight losing streak. he did earn 1 more title fight in that time though, Only to be finished by Dillashaw again.

Woodley

At the time woodley was champion, it was pretty clear toward the top of the division there wasn't anyone as athletic and explosive as woodley. there as maybe johnny hendricks, but he had a downward spiral of his own. Many people here have said that woodley would have beaten GSP given the chance, He had a few title defense of his own, Thompson 1/2 (1 was a draw of course), maia, and an undefeated contender Darren Till

Tyron went on a gigantic slide immediately after losing his title, losing 4 straight fights in the UFC to Usmans, Burns, Colby, and Luque. In his defense, those are all great fighters. He got finished twice in that time and did not win a single round out of the 14 complete rounds on a single judges score card. But it didn't stop there, After this woodley pursued a professional boxing bout with Jake Paul. Losing the first time by decision and the second time with probably his worst career knockout ever.

So there you have it.

For years I've heard speak of Barao's fall from grace being one of the largest, fastest and most shocking falls from grace. Has Barao met his match? Which one of these guys fell less gracefully. Who did you have higher hopes for? Are they both worse than Chuck???

I'd love to know what you all think with a poll option.
Woodley by far. He got wrecked by someone whom most people consider as sub-par competition and even to this day refuse to acknowledge. Barao losing just raises question about him being clean or not due to the decline coming shortly after USADA was implemented. Woodley's loss raises questions about the legitimacy of MMA as a whole, MMA striking, MMA fighters being branded as C-level athletes (in no way am I saying this, but see the past 20 threads about this in Sherdog).

if some supposed teenager from Youtube can train 1-2 years in boxing and absolutely dismantle one of the welterweight GOATS, it really does make people question things.

This guy is an embarrassment to MMA for all the antics he did post-fight career. Multiple domestic abuse charges, multiple arrests, terrorizing neighburs and getting KO'ed by a pub dude is just shameful

they all fall from grace, translated to sherdog language: they were never any good.

Barao = Fall from Grace
Woodley = Disgrace

Woodley fell further down getting KOd by a YouTuber but Renan fell from higher up with his name actually being uttered among some of the sports all time greats at one point.

Exactly, people downplaying it are delusional.
He is only 39 and was UFC welterweight champion 2 years ago, losing the title to the current champ.

Couldn't be more humiliating for the sport which is 50% about striking and where boxing is considered the base striking art.

Woodley hasn’t lost, good job to jake Paul, and frank mir, and woodley, Paul is getting very high quality training, combined with dedication and this much training and his natural ability it’s not surprise he is having success; nice fights

It seems as though Nove Uniao had a fall from grace as a team. I don't expect Heavies posters to know what I'm talking about though.
