Bigger fall from grace: Barao Or Woodley?

Woodley got paid but he's looking bad right now.Up there with Askren. All his moves to build his brand made him money but his hit song, movie roll, and laying face down with dude wipes on his ass after being ko'd by Jake Paul is too much lol. At least the tattoo was fake.

I want to say Barao for how he went from GOAT contender to King of the Cage reject overnight, but Woodley's public humiliation is far more widely known so it has to be him. Barao was a relative unknown outside of MMA hardcore circles, but T-Wood has been featured on TMZ and now he's been faceplanted on Showtime. Far more people know of his embarrassing ass whupping and it was done in a far more embarrassing way, faceplanted by a professional ass clown. Now T-Wood has to walk home with Jake Pauls spooge on his face and ownership tattoo on his hand.

BJ was a legend. A two division champ. He fought Machida in a HW match up. He's currently 16-14-2 and 1-9-1 (being finished 3 times) in his last 11 fights. Not to mention being flattened by a chubby in a street fight.

Renan was a dominant champ, pound-for-pound number one and riding a massive 32 winning streak. He's currently 34-9-1 and 2-8 (finished 3 times) in his last 10.

Woodley, once a dominant champ, is now 19-7-1 and 0-4 in his last 4.
Not to mention, 0-2 (1 KO) boxing a youtuber.

So, in my books it's BJ, Barao and Woodley in this order.

BJ.

At least Jake Paul has been training semi-seriously for a while. Still pretty bad though. Woodley was an MMA champion, not all that far removed from being champion (March 2019), known for having dangerous KO power in MMA. Makes MMA look really bad.
bj told his friend to hit him and then let him hit him in an emotional fit. then he mounted him and beat the crap out of him afterward. if you're talking about his career though, then yeah, that ended pretty badly.

Barao won fights after losing his belt, its Woodley.

Barao

only because Woodley’s downfall likely featured him getting paid more than he did at his peak.

Barao likely never made a whole lot of money.

Woodley. With T-Wood, you could see in his WB fights how he could be beaten and the Maia stinker... Best to say as little as possible about that. Till was inexperienced and we now know how good he really is.

With Renan, we all pretty much thought of him as one of the top P4P fighters back then, with a possibility of getting to the GOAT discussion. After TJ1 we explained it away as the perils of his weight cut. Turns out he was not as great as we thought he was.

for what it's worth Barao is fighting in january.

that's the other thing, atleast woodley traded his legacy in combat sports to jake paul for some quick cash. Barao got nothing out of his fall.
But we not discussing which downfall brought in more money, the fact that Woodley downfall will be talked about by causals for years, and his name will be used to trash MMA makes his downfall the worst.

When these two were on top many people cited their MMA prowess amongst the best of all time. Lets take a quick look at how their careers have panned out since their time at the top.

Barao

When this guy was on top he was riding a 32 win streak going into the dillashaw fight, he had impressive title defenses against MacDonald, Faber and wineland. Many prophesied that he would beat Cruz and be known as the bantamweight goat for all times pretty much with a 34 fight win streak how could he not be?

Then Dillashaw Tore him in to shreds and then finished him in the 5th round. That title fight is considered by some (myself especially) as one of the most impressive title changes in the history of the UFC. Since being finished in that fight, Barao went 7-2, before being released from the UFC. he's currently boasting a 5 fight losing streak. he did earn 1 more title fight in that time though, Only to be finished by Dillashaw again.

Woodley

At the time woodley was champion, it was pretty clear toward the top of the division there wasn't anyone as athletic and explosive as woodley. there as maybe johnny hendricks, but he had a downward spiral of his own. Many people here have said that woodley would have beaten GSP given the chance, He had a few title defense of his own, Thompson 1/2 (1 was a draw of course), maia, and an undefeated contender Darren Till

Tyron went on a gigantic slide immediately after losing his title, losing 4 straight fights in the UFC to Usmans, Burns, Colby, and Luque. In his defense, those are all great fighters. He got finished twice in that time and did not win a single round out of the 14 complete rounds on a single judges score card. But it didn't stop there, After this woodley pursued a professional boxing bout with Jake Paul. Losing the first time by decision and the second time with probably his worst career knockout ever.

So there you have it.

For years I've heard speak of Barao's fall from grace being one of the largest, fastest and most shocking falls from grace. Has Barao met his match? Which one of these guys fell less gracefully. Who did you have higher hopes for? Are they both worse than Chuck???

I'd love to know what you all think with a poll option.

While both are amazing turn of careers, IMHO Barao was worse.
Bigger win-streak, bigger fall from grace.
And it's not like he was fighting just killers.
Renan lost to the likes of Brian Kelleher, Andre Ewell, Luke Sanders or Douglas Silva de Andrade...

So Woodley might have lost 4 straight, but those were killers who went to fight for the belt (or are about to)....

If we put Baraos brain in Woodleys body and reran the Paul fight im sure Paul would still win so theres also that

Woodly.

Atleast Barao can say he lost to pro fighters.

But then again Woodley must be banking close to a million+ with both fights.

Is it worth it though?
Woodley is shameless as shown by getting the bitch tattoo.
Got KTFO by Disney star. Doesn't top that for humiliation.

At least Barao is losing to pro fighters. I'd have to say BJ had the worst fall, his last two KO's came against a drunk guy in a parking lot and an airbag.
Maybe I am wrong but a saw a video where he back-mounted a guy and beat the shit out of him is that another fight or the same

Woodley took the fight on short notice. He paid for it. I think his brand is dead but he made enough to be comfortable. I hope he doesn't blow his money on some weird venture. He should cut the rapping out. It's really not for him.

Publicly - Woodley - Such a large scale and so much publicity. Even if it was just boxing and a fighter (striker) like Woodley.

MMA Niche - Barao - Took a quick downturn from being notably one of the best to an afterthought. Though as mentioned, not completely uncommon but it was hard.

Just a quick corrections, Barao had a 32 fight undefeated streak. There was a NC in there.

T-Wood got Koed flat by a youtuber while having a "Dude Wipes" sponsor in his ass. Good for him for making the money tho.

I gotta go with Woodley. Barao, while he was basically done after the TJ fight, still won a few fights after that and showed some competitive flashes in some of his losses. Woodley literally lost every single round of the title fight where he lost his belt and every single round after that in the UFC. Then he got his ass beat culminating with an all time embarrassing faceplant KO to Jake fucking Paul. Wayyyyy more embarrassing than any of Barao's losses.
