Keep hearing this around Sherdog recently: That it was Bigfoot's "plan" to take Reem out later, and that he pulled it off. Pretty much that he won because he executed his gameplan. That's simply not the case, for a couple of reasons:

-Reem did not gas! Just before the end of round 2, he threw Bigfoot off of himself with ease. He was ko'd just a short while after this, and even had a rest in between. He was avoiding Bigfoot's strikes with pure head movement, hands low chin up for the first two rounds (stupid idea on his part). He looked as light on his feet as he has in a while.
-You could hear Bigfoot's corner talk to him after Rd 1.
"What we planned to happen has happened. This is your fight now." (Paraphrase)

Pretty much telling him to go out and get it. What happened in Round 2? Reem beat him down, everywhere. Still dodged his strikes easily, and clowned him on the feet, while not respecting him whatsoever. He wanted to get it done, but still couldn't. Between the 2nd and 3rd, Bigfoot's team realized this, and decided to go for broke in round 3, as they realized they needed a knockout to win.

It was Bigfoot's plan to take it into the later rounds, but that's not why he won. Reem was too confident, and kept his hands low, trying to arrogantly duck Bigfoot's punches. The lack of respect killed him. Not trying to take anything away from the accomplished and dangerous Bigfoot, but Reem brought this on himself. And on his lack of "heart" - nobody could withstand that barrage from a 280lb giant.

Overeem vs Big Foot is basically the HW edition of Okami vs Boetsch.

Bigfoot won cause he's a monster and Overeem was being dumb.

Bigfoot won because he is a superior mma athlete when AO is not on Testosteone on other PEDs.

Stop making excuses and accept AO has not beaten a top 3 fighter in 10 years even when on roids.

Towards the end of the 2nd round Overeem started to get tired. Instead of matrix dodging Bigfoot's punches he was eating them. It was a combination of him getting to tired and overconfidence.

Overeem lost because of overconfidence. And Bigfoot hits hard.

Nobody mentions that an offensive powerhouse like Overeem failed to do any real damage to Bigfoot in the first 2 rounds. Bigfoot also said that Overeem was breathing super heavily and trying to catch his breath when he was on top. This was an mma rope a dope.

It may have been a gameplan to take OVereem out late....many fighters to this.

Bigfoot showed to the new fans who Overeem really is.

It was nostalgic for me.

Athleticism had nothing to do with that KO, did you even watch the fight? Wtf top 3? LOL No one in strikeforce was even top 3 fuck off with that shit. No one has beaten top 3 without losing to top 3 as well, uncharted levels of stupid in this post.

I'm glad Alistair got taken down a peg but if it was simply Bigfoot being a superior fighter, the first 2 rounds would have looked much different.

a not unfair nitpick.

Bigfoot won because Alistair is cocky.

No, no it wasn't. At no time, was Reem dominating the fight. He was winning the points game, and that's about it. Clinching and throwing about five knees, does not equal domination.

Reem was significantly slowed down by the 3rd round. Some of his punches were coming so slow, it was ridiculous.

Maybe you can't call it "gassed" but he was clearly tired, which by many people's over-exaggerating standards, is gassing.

The problem with Reem is that a Reem without fresh arms, is a Reem in serious trouble, because the guy doesn't have the best movement, and relies heavily on his power, hand speed, and countering ability to defend himself. He pretty much uses his offense as his only defense, and without his offense, he's practically defenseless...

In a nutshell, 3rd round Reem is VERY vulnerable. Had Bigfoot tried to open up on Reem in the 1st, like he did in the 3rd, he would almost certainly have been KO'd. He knew this, his camp knew this, most of any educated fan knew this, and the dude pulled off one of the best executed gameplans we've seen in a while, and I, for one, couldn't be happier for the guy.

no It was the small man version of Ron waterman V Chief Andre Roberts UFC 21 a SHW fight

Bad comparison. Okami destroyed Boetsch in the first two round. Overeem did very little.

No, it's not a bad comparison because I'm comparing the third round-rally to victory which is pretty similar. Big Foot just decided to go for it and did it, just like Boetsch and they should be applauded for accomplishing such a thing, but people should hold their horses on acting like the fighter on the losing end is some sort of scrub for letting such a thing happen.
