I don't think it should be a thing for the lower tier guys, but what about Championship matches? Like if Jon Jones was to look at Chael(the first time the fight was proposed, the canceled PPV) and say, sure I'll fight you, but winner takes all. A lot of guys want to talk their way into a title shot, but I would think it would be cool as hell if they made a winner take all type of thing. "yea sure you'll get your undeserved title shot, but whoever wins gets paid, and the loser gets nothing" Cody Garbrandt calls out Cruz. Does he deserve it? obviously not, but if he is will to say "I'll only collect a paycheck if I win," then fuck it, make the fight. That would show that he really believes he can win, and that he's not just trying to get his ass whipped for a big pay day.

Anything can happen in this sport. I'd like to see you bet 50k or whatever. Fighters come off as confident but there is no guarantees

I think it makes more sense for low tier guys to bet on their opponents. After getting a couple of UFC wins of course, to make sure they don't get cut.

Yea I get that, but I'm more thinking about the kind of guys that beat a contender and start calling out a champion. Like, in boxing. Ok Berto, you want to fight Floyd, you can fight him, but winner takes all. You'd hear shit like "well, uhh, I mean I think I can win, but like, just give me a couple million and I'll show up" I wanna see challengers that think they can win and are willing to risk whatever to do it, not guys that are content with showing up, getting their asses kicked, and collecting a pay day. Shit, give me 50 grand and I'll let Floyd knock me out. These other guys are getting $20 million to not put up a fight. That shit sucks.

Place your little 10k base salary that your opponent will win by KO in 1st round. Odds will be around 10-1. make 100k. life hack.

Too bad it's illegal. I'm still sure it happens (Bob Sapp)

Rampage bet his whole "purse" that he would knock Forrest out. I think other fighters learned from that experience...

Did Conor not bet around $2m that he'd beat Chad within two rounds?

have your breakfast before writing a thread TS. you haven't had your coffee yet.

Of course it happen. Every sports in the world where athletes arent making a shitload of money. Easy to do. you ask a trusthworthy person to place the bet at your place and you dont spend the money like an idiot....

If low divisions italian soccer guys were ready to deal with the mafia and all to buy refs...you'd say they were probably ready to let the oppponent score 1-2 unexpected goals to make the big payday.

human nature

If you think Berto is the one who wouldn't agree to a "winner take all" contract with Floyd, you don't understand very much about prize fighting, and you sure as hell don't understand Floyd.
