Better striker Ankalaev or Roundtree??? Who do you guys think?

Ankalaev doesn't really have much in the way of big KO wins to support this.

He couldn't even hurt his opponent in his last fight despite outclassing him.... a guy coming off a KO loss to Jiri ...
As if Jiri is not one of the best fighters in the UFC who we can attribute that mainly to his stand up skills.

roundtree only stand up
ank can strike or wrestle
big difference

Good boxer but his kicking game is beyond basic.
Yeah, he strikes and moves like he's in mud with no power. If Ankalaev that fought Rakic shows up for Alex he's going to get chewed and spit out.

Jan is a great Striker
I'm not saying he's trash, but he's not the guy that is always going to be the A side for striking.

As if Jan is not a great striker. Jan outstruck Izzy.
It's a fact he out struck Izzy, but I don't think without takedowns he would've been able to win. He seems more happy to become a wrestler when facing strikers. It's MMA so he's the better well rounded fighter. But to me he's a good striker that has better offensive wrestling than the really good strikers to win those matchups.

Well yes, that is exactly my point. Jiri is a guy with a proven ability to stop guys with strikes.

Ankalaev - one of his peers - specifically does not have such a history in his record.

He has stopped several people w strikes

Ankalaev BY FAR, he knocked out Walker and Cutelaba cold and they knocked out Khalil.

Khalil throws with proper technique and power, but has no footwork and defensive skills.

Rakic - decision
Jan - split decision
Santos - decision
Oezdemir - decision
Krylov - decision

Johnny Walker has a highlight reel of getting KO'd. Anthony Smith has been KO'd TWELVE times, including by a career welterweight.

There is a long way from 'he has stopped several people' to saying its likely he is going to KO a ranked opponent/champion. I wouldn't bet money on Ankalaev finishing a bowl of cereal.

He's an outstanding striker and generalist, but isn't a KO/Sub guy by any normal measure.

OK now do it for his UFC run... then do it for his ranked opponents....

Ank can't finish guys with names you've heard of other then those who do not belong in the org

Sorry I couldnt hear you over that scraping noise the goal posts were making.

Pure striking? Probably Rountree. Mixed with the threat of a takedown? Probably Ankalaev.

Ank cannot finish UFC fighters, in general. His history doesn't support it. The two guys he got out of there are fringe UFC talent with many KO losses.

What a weird hill to die lmao

Ank can't finish a bowl of cereal fam.
