Cold air falls, if you can raise it up, raise that shit up.

Shouldnt you install it in your window frame?

Otherwise you'll just be blowing hot air back into your room from the condenser coils.

This isn't a window unit, right?

I never heard of windows ac just windows 10

There's no such thing as cold air. The less heat there is, the colder air gets. Heat rises, that's why they put A/C return vents up high. It sucks in the heat from the air, and the condenser fan blows the heat off the condenser coil. You get the same air going back into the house, but with less heat. Which means colder air usually around a 20 degree split between return and supply.

These are pretty common in Asia:

Install? I just open my window and then shut the window on it, and put random things to block and air holes around the parameter of the window

We run a 1/2 HP window unit in our bedroom and it works OK, so you should be quite chilled with a 1HP. If you're cutting a hole and base for it, I would mount it so the vent is about eye level, so it's not too hard to remove for cleaning/maintenance. If you have a timer, use it or your bill is gonna be huge. We pay about p4000/month (almost as much as our rent!) to run ours about 12 hours a day. Also, think about building a cage for theft prevention, if there is easy access from the outside. Congrats, and welcome to the first world! jk :)

Why does your AC unit have horsepower. Here in the (rest of the goddamned world) we use British Thermal Units like civilized folk.

On smaller units BTU is used but bigger units are rated in tons which is 12000 BTU/HR.

I lived in an old wooden house from the 50s and all that wood absorbs so much heat during the day and I think it would be hard to cool it with anything under 1hp.

I have to make sure the electricals are fine as well some of the wiring here dates back to 1955!!
