Best TKD players of all time?

This post will be slightly off topic but since we're talking Taekwondo...

It's nice to see some of these videos, actually, it gives me some renewed faith in the Taekwondo everyone says exists but I never see.

I was watching the Olympic Taekwondo and was so unbelievably underwhelmed. Now that I've been doing Muay Thai for a little bit the Olympic Taekwondo seems ridiculous to me. I mean, they've structured the rules to encourage people to keep their hands down. WTF is that? They stand sideways too! I JUST got my ass handed to me in sparring because I haven't made it to class as much as I should this summer and was turning sideways to reach and try and land more punches. The effect was immediate and clear: don't turn sideways!!

My question, though, is this...what's the deal with the head kicks? According to what I've read you score big points for a legal head kick, and all of these guys fight with their arms plastered to their sides to block kicks to the body. These guys are FAST and while obviously that means the opponent is also pretty fast and nimble, it seems like the risk/reward ratio is pretty good for trying to land a kick to the head, but they don't seem to throw too many of them.

Maybe it's just because I keep getting kicked in the head in sparring lately, but it seems like there ought to be more of those.

Lol Speed BR. That's Superkick you looked up. Not superfoot.

Superfoot:

Superkick:

LOL !
Thanks for the info. You see, when you are "supersleepy", Superkick and Superfoot tend to sound like the same thing :icon_chee
At first , when I read your post (and thought you were speaking of Superkick) I was like "Whoa. Nice! I really want to see this guy fighting under Karate rules. Will he adapt his style and use Shotokan-like mae zukis?" . And I was so disappointed that I was not able to find any footage...

Anyway, what you mentioned about Superfoot makes sense. Since he is older, he probably trained when Taekwondo was nothing but "Korean Karate" and the differences between both styles (if they ever existed by then) were probably minimal.
