Best Ridley Scott Film?

I voted American Gangster.

I forgot about that one, again I don't think on the level of his earlier work but still I'm surprised it doesn't get more hype, way better than The Departed for example as a modern gangster epic.

Gladiator. I love Alien. I love Blade Runner. I've seen Total Recall 10 times (6 in one day).

But the Ridley Scott + Hans Zimmer combo? Fucking unreal.

Total Recall was directed by Paul Verhoeven although as I said in the "action" thread it does kind of show how things shifted in Hollywood being another Philp K. Dick adaptation like Blade Runner.

He brought ancient Rome to life like no other, and that in itself was a treat.

Rome gave an incredibly detailed and nuanced vision of ancient Rome.

One of the very best things that has ever been on HBO.
