Sakuraba won a ufc tournament, and he had the Saku belt, but he was never officially champion
Great pick. That was a HW tourney too.

Saku is a quite a phenomenon; a career at HW and LHW with a MW/WW frame.

He could have won a title if he had cut weight.

100% , can you imagine him fighting people his own size at Ww , he would have been unstoppable for a good period of time

Yoel or Joe Ben are the answers I believe. Joe had such a tough end to his career, too. Guy had to struggle at FLW in the Mighty Mouse era, then after he finally leaves and Joe is on the cusp of a title shot, he has to face a prime entering Deivision not once, but twice in a row since Figgy missed weight the first time he TKO'd Ben, then somehow finishes him in an even more brutal way.

Absolutely fucking ghastly finish.

That is literally what the thread is about.. you are confusing the hell out of me lol
It's a dumb to discuss people who tried and failed to win the belt. They were literally proven not to be champion level, often multiple times against multiple champs, yet we still get the same names time after time.

What people really say is "my favourite fghter lost but should get points anyways". Who gives a shit about being the best of 2nd place?

No one ever wants to discuss fighters who never got their shot but possibly could've been champ if they'd just gotten one.

I think you are reading far too much into it man. People are just listing people who were very good but never could seal the deal.

Still don't understand why you are so upset lol - but I'll leave you be.

Voted for Romero.

Maybe Gastelum is a good pick too.

Nah.

People are legit saying Yoel Romero as though he didn't fail to win the belt against:

- Whittaker
- the scale (Rockhold)
- Whittaker AND the scale again
- Izzy
- Nemkov

At a certain point people are just in denial about their fighters not being good enough.

Erick Silva. Unfortunately he retired before reaching his prime so he'll stay forever a hot young prospect

The entire thread is about fighters not being good enough.. why is that so hard for you to understand? lol

Good enough against who? He's lost winning the title 5 different times.

It's just cope.

Good call, definitely deserves to be on the list. I voted for Yoel, but Jacare arguably beat him and is a close second at the very least. "The media had Jacare winning the fight against Romero by a 6 to 1 margin."

Jacaré was a Strikeforce champion.
TS was asking about people who weren't champs in any org (or major org).
