I came to MMA fandom a little while after Pride expired--the sideshow freakiness of early UFC was a major turnoff and I never bothered checking back in until I started reading some discussion of early career Jon Jones in non-MMA forums that made clear that MMA had evolved and that Jones was someone to watch (hence my user name). Anyway, I finally got around to watching Fedor vs. Cro Cop a year or two ago and to say I was disappointed would be an epic understatement. I was expecting a fight that was one of the greatest fights ever; instead I got a fight with some fun, sloppy, fast-paced standup for the first half of the first round or so, followed by a lot of tedious groundwork where Cro Cop defended adequately to prevent a G&P stoppage but didn't do anything much else and Fedor kept repeating the same G&P that Cro Cop was adequately defending without trying to change things up significantly. Lots of action, but not much happening after the first part of round 1, and the best part of the fight was mostly about how sacrificing precision for power and speed can make for a fun fight even when it doesn't actually work.
 
Ive been watching a lot of 2007-2010 Nick Diaz fights. People forget how good that guy was.

Not even close. Jones vs Gus 1 was better fight in every way shape and form. Shogun vs lil nog, hell even Shogun vs Hendo

I think so too. Fedor/CC was magnanimous battle because of the stakes at the time, but it was more tactical, and less action packed than Lil Nog/Shogun. Both fights were massively skilled, which puts them ahead of pure action fights of lesser skill like Bonnar/Griffin.
