I remember him getting absolutely tonked by Rogerio de Lima, I think that was also a very bad performance to go out on.

Slightly early stoppage, but Rogerio was beating the absolute shite out of him and it wasn't gonna get any better for Rothwell!

It definitely might have been part of it, but the UFC was cutting HWs around that time because you had a heap of long time guys who were beating all the new HW prospects.
Guys like Overeem, Hunt, Arlovski and JDS were on amazing contracts around that time. Not sure on Rothwell, but he was fighting guys like Chris Barneytt and probably getting paid well.

In comparison a guy like De Lima is probably on 20/20k at that time.

Yeah, man, I think it's likely all of those considerations. Pay is a big one, pissing hot is another, then getting smashed like that - that's a lot of stuff working against the big guy.

Never had anything against Rothwell, though. Huge guy.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve tried something like that before and Sherdog wouldn’t let me upload the gif due to file size. I resized it to an acceptable size but it was too grainy.

The method of linking the original gif to something like giphy is probably the way to go, but it defeats the purpose because it requires creating a giphy account…so we are back into the hands of big tech, just like if I click on YouTube.

My main point for wanting gifs is to avoid giving clicks and data to YT, Insta, X, etc.

I'm a huge big Ben fan. Loved that he started his own gym and actually cared about it doing well. Met him at a bar while he was just coming up in the Ufc and he was a super humble guy. Forever supporter.
