Ben is working through it!

All the love for mr funky, hope he can keep up the good momentum and get back to a sense of normalcy

Wishing him a speedy recovery but goddamn he must have let some stuff fester on him. Ive had MRSA before and it starts off as what looks like a whitehead pimple and eventually became a lemon sized abscess on my shin. Doc said if I didnt go in when I died, the infection could have started attacking the bone. Freaky shit.

Fantastic message and attitude, it will help tremendously with his recovery as the mind is primary in overcoming such awful event.

Will be interesting to see how far he can go: usually double lung transplant recipients get back to “normal life” but absolutely do not achieve any remotely high levels of athleticism, however I wouldn’t put it past Ben to positively shock us all and the medical community.

Let’s hope! 🙏

He is going to turn this into a series, a show or something. Askren's Tony Robbins arc starts now and it is well deserved. He should also start juicing to help with recovery if possible.

Wish him the best.

Definitely agree with the TR career switch, however about juicing it might not be possible, he is on such a complex cocktail of anti rejection meds that likely anything else with cumulative side effects and interactions is strictly off limits.

Yup, you are right. I edited the post with "if it is possible". Hopefully his body adapts to it.

Pretty wholesome to see Askren back with this attitude. Hope he gets well soon to enjoy his family and keep coaching the next generation of savages.

Really looking forward to seeing him put some weight back on and regain some strength

When I was in HS, at 16, I came down with bacterial meningitis. I probably weighed about 160, somewhere in the 5% - 8% body fat range. I was in the hospital for a little over 2 weeks and came out about 15 lbs lighter.

So, not shocking to me, given what he went through.
you're lucky your parents weren't christian scientists.

It's not pathetic after a surgery, it is what it is. Hopefully he can get strong enough to go back to coaching and that disc golf thing.

Great his personality is still the same. Because I was reading news about that alzheimers drug that made people paranoid or sex-obsessed. His body was affected, but his brain seemingly wasn't (perhaps his mental energy is lower at the moment. Like how is his concentration? Hard to know until he's trying things). Wonder if there was any effect on hormones.

Extended hospital stays will atrophy your muscles bad, especially after going through what he did. So glad he’s still with us.

Did he get a new haircut? Looks the same as always.
