Has a fighters stock ever risen so much using mmath overnight? People now think he would have blanketed and wrestled his way to p4p goat level due to what one of his victims just did to bendo.

Koreshkov was what 22 when he lost to Ben? He's gotten ten fold better since same can't be said of Askren. Koreshkov need to be appreciated more not Ben for something he did years ago.

It's just the gap in grappling that came into full context last night.

Bendo just shoots straight forward and tried to overpower for takedowns. Koreshkov's length controls the distance and he improved his sprawl a bit. Bendo wasn't strong enough to overpower him for the finish like he could do often at 155lb. Askren if you rewatch the match also got sprawled on, the difference is, he would chain wrestle to less conventional takedowns. I think The Funk would own him again.

MMAmath is never more necessary than when you're trying to overrate a fighter who is nowhere near arenas in which the big league fighters actually play.

This is the closest Ben Is going to come to actually doing that.

His ranking and stock will only be delusionally boosted by proxy and vicariously through other fighters with actual credentials.

You are correct MMAMath is most necessary when the opportunity to prove 1+1 is 2 isnt presented. It was nice of Koreshkov to give a reminder to the American MMA fans with short memories of The Funks greatness.

While there is no arguing Ben completely school him that fight but how old was Koreshkov that night? 22? 23?

I think if they fight today it will be a very different fight. That clinic by the funk was a wake up for Koreshkov and his team.

If Ben goes his whole career fighting Far East cans, you can bet your ass MeatheadJock will always be here to deliver a sales pitch on his worth. Lol

Askren's wrestling is levels above Henderson's. Koreshkov might do better now against Askren, he's still going to get taken down and controlled.

Is he even fighting at 170 anymore with ONE's weight class changes?

The only reason why Koreshkov lost to Askren was his terrible TDD. You can clearly see Koreshkov has worked hard to fix the only hole in his game. Would love to see these 2 fight again as i believe the outcome would be completely different.

Watch the fight again though Koreshkov sprawled on Askrens shots too. The difference is Bendo tried to keep driving forward to pull in the legs and lift to dump for a takedown. While Askren used chain wrestling grappling once he was stuffed under.

For an athletic guy who hasn't wrestled before that can control distance a solid sprawl should come easy. Learning to defend multiple grappling spots in that position once you get the first sprawl takes more time.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Askren could have killed Bendo that easily BUT styles have the ability to make fighters look great or bad especially when dealing with fighters who have an extreme strength or a weakness. Koreshkov for as awesome as he looked didnt show anything to me to prove he can defend shots that arent straight forward. If he in fact has improved that aspect then he is a scary man, but typically fighters don't learn that stuff that fast so I will play the safe odds that the rematch would look more like the first one than most think.

He weighs in at 185 pounds because they have to prove they are hydrated at the weighins ( even though his opponents have no issue missing weight) he would be 170lbs still anywhere besides ONE.

2 - 3 years of extensive training can change a fighter completely. Werdum who was basically only a ground fighter lost easily to the stand up of Overeem June 2011. In 2 - 3 years of stand up training and Werdum is a totally different fighter beating Travis Browne, Mark Hunt and Cain because of his greatly improved stand up.

Disagree. It's universally agreed werdum outstruck him that fight, the only reason he lost was his incessant flopping to try to get it to the ground
