His last fight was Apr of 2015 (a no contest) and before that he fought in Aug of 2014.

I wonder if in the last two years he's made even 1/100th of what Conor made against Diaz in their WW fight. Weird to think, Ben would likely beat McGregor at WW.

It's just crazy that time keeps passing by and Askren seems to be going nowhere with his career. He's not my favorite by any means, but what a waste of talent. This is his prime and he's all but forgotten.

He's boring af

why would anyone be in a hurry to book him?

Ya but he's been making lots of snarky comments about Dana and the ufc...so...he's got that going for him

Nothing but an upward trajectory my friends!

Pretty strange really. Is he turning down matchups or is he not being offered fights? There was that weigh-in fiasco, but other than that, I never hear anything about the guy either way.

I'd have completely forgotten about him by now if he hadn't done that Adele song.

His contract is probably too expensive for them to use him regularly

According to sherdog he's making a bajillion dollars in OneFC. I'm sure he's completely happy with his current situation.

He is fine. Sapo wasted a year of his life, as if he got busted for roids and suspended for a full year like the most of the cheats in MMA. He did get a sweat deal but Sapo has stolen from his pockets and will get his well deserved beatdown after Askren defeats some Russian guy I know little about next month.

Sucks that one of the best wrestlers in MMA right now is just brushed off because he doesn't take stupid chances and get hit in the face a bunch.

He tweeted that he's excited that Rory may be a free agent soon. That would be a good fight for both of them.

I agree. If you really want to stick it to the UFC, go fight in for their major competitor...Bellator. Instead, he chooses to fight in a league spread more thin with cans.

Bellator was willing to pay him about 40K a win; ONE was willing to pay him about 120K a win. ONE has not worked out the way he or any of his fans would have wished (Screw you Sapo) but it would have still taken about 3 wins in Bellator to equal the pay of 1 win in ONE; he had already beat everyone who was in Bellator at the time too. Taking 66% less pay just to ever so SLIGHTLY hurt the UFC would have been a poor choice; ONE was still his best option it just has been worse than expected.

Good points I was not aware of. I think it might be a different story today though. I bet Bellator could afford to shell out more money for Askren when his contract runs out with One, and that would be the best way to "stick it to the man."

Well, UFC didn't want him and neither did Bellator. Mostly because they didn't want this guy winning Funky style under their banners. I can't criticize him for where his career is at right now. Every man has some sort of principle and Ben was to not be treated and paid like a schmuck by douche promoters. Since he hasn't been complaining except when breakfast buffet Sapo misses weight..he must be happy.

Dude has been blackballed and probably beats Lawler 50-45. It's not his fault. Wrestling is an art as well.

He hasn’t been “blackballed”. Here’s a crazy idea, there’s more to it than you read about on the internet. He’s one of those assholes that thinks everyone else in the world is an idiot except him. The fact the Bellator told him to go find another home gives you an idea of what he’s like to work with. Some people just aren’t worth the headache, and apparently according to most of the MMA promotions, he’s one of them. He’s an outstanding wrestler, but this isn’t wrestling, it’s MMA. If he’d made an attempt to improve his overall game, and wasn’t such a dick, he’d be doing well in the UFC, or any other promotion he chose. As it is, he’s being paid very well to sit around and do nothing. He has like 2 dozen very vocal fans on the internet to make him feel important. He’s got it made.

Maybe the lesson here is burning all bridges to the UFC isn't such a great idea, even if it makes you a hero in the Worldwide discussions...
