It's funny how barely anybody mentioned Askren even when he was the Bellator champ. But suddenly there are all these die-hard Askren fans once the UFC didn't sign him. MAybe all the public bashing he did of the organization didn't help? But where were all his fans before talking about hopefully the UFC can outbid Bellator when his contract comes up or talking about the great fights he puts on? I'm sure he had some fans but for a lot I suspect it has become fashionable after-the-fact.

Ben Askren is pretty good, but he needs,to come to the UFC to challenge himself.

Just because a fighter is not in the UFC, does not mean they are unranked.

Beat Dan Hornbuckle (ranked #15 at the time at 170).
Beat Jay Hieron (ranked #11 at the time at 170).
Beat Douglas Lima (ranked #13 at the time at 170).

Both Koreshkov and Amoussou were #24 at the time of their fights against The Funky One.

I don't get why his name still even comes up other than I guess anything that someone tweets is relevant "news" these days.
 
well. that's pretty much the same, and askrens not fighting nearly the same competition or many top ranked fighters at all. along with hendricks having a few more fights so as u fight more it's harder to keep your stopping percentage high. unless your condit with 27 stoppages and 2 decisions or mousasi with 30 stops and 5 decisions
 
I think if Askren and Hendricks fought, it would be so boring it would slow down the rotation of earth causing unparalleled temperature fluxuations and catastrophic weather events. As the fight went on it would slow down the entire orbit of the earth causing it to increase speed to the sun, eventually destroying us all. Please don't make this fight.

Unless they lead to an actual point, statistics mean nothing because they can be manipulated to say almost anything

This. i like askren and you can only fight who they put in front of you BUT he hasnt faced a gsp, condit or lawler.
Hope one day he will get the chance and we can really see what he is capable of at the top level.

1) Ben hasn't fought the guys JH has, so the comparison is weak.
2) Aside from one weak showing (where he still won), Ben has basically made everyone his girlfriend with top control, and now he's choking them or pounding them out.
3) Hendricks is a beast, who uses his wrestling so he can hulk-smash guys.
4) I would pay double-PPV money to watch these two fight this year.
5) Winner gets GSP fight.
