Hector Lombard was an undersized MW who is now ranked in the top 10 at 170. He holds wins over two Strikeforce champions and the current WSOF champ.

I'm starting to wonder if Askren is just trying to piss off the UFC so much that he never actually ends up fighting there.

He has made it pretty well known he isn't exactly hurting for money before the ONE FC deal and he sure isn't hurting now with that deal. I think he'll fight that contract out and see what Bellator has to offer at that point. High chance of signing with Bellator and fight another 3 years or so with them and call it a day. I'm really starting to think we won't ever see Ben in the UFC.

Lombard's style is a lot more exciting than Askren's, and I think you'll notice he hasn't been saying all kinds of shit about the UFC or Dana White.

You can not like Askren all you want, but the truth is he is one of the best guys that isn't in the UFC. Maybe he is boring, maybe he is obnoxious, but as a fan, I want to know who the best of the best is and UFC claims it has the best of the best, then they need more Askren.

I was responding to your argument that "worth" is directly connected to number of top 10 wins. There are tons of counterexamples.

Anyway, my opinion is that Askren is a prime candidate for Sonnen 2.0. Main difference is that he doesn't tow the company line. Yet experience (Tito Ortiz) teaches us it's all good.
