News Bellator sale talks heating up

To me, Bellator re-signing Cyborg is the clearest indication that they arent getting absorbed by PFL. They really fucked with PFL by re-signing the only viable opponent for Kayla and now she is going to seat out the entire year without a fight.

Also, Kayla said Cyborg "played and fucked with the PFL", so this doesnt look like a merger will happen.

Don't see it, would be great to merge Bellator and PFL by the best from each org fight, so better she sign with Bellator for that.

But do not think PFL is buying Bellator unless they got a butt load of money handed to them.

take into Account that He also said PFL would announce something Big at the Qatar forum

Fight oracle also said that PBC Boxing was getting out of business … one of the worst sources of combat sports in history

I remember a few years back Endeavor tried to buy Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions, which no one could understand as Al Haymon only signs boxers for one or two fights at a time, thus their roster was weak. Now with Endeavor buying WWE and starting a new company TKO group holdings Eddie Hearn has stated they will be looking to buy a top boxing promotion to join though he wont sell the family business Matchroom he has upped the valuation of Matchroom immensely so that leaves very few options of top boxing promotions. Bob Arum said he would sell but be costly, Oscar De La Hoya said he would sell GBP (Dana hates both Bob & Oscar).

PBC is probably the deepest roster of any boxing show my friend …

Do not know what their roster was back then, also remember the rumors that PBC's Al Haymon would never be a front man as avoids audience so wasn't worth the price being offered.
Lots of rumors going around then. Did not care enough about boxing to do the research.

The point is not if they are well but your comment "Fight oracle also said that PBC Boxing was getting out of business … one of the worst sources of combat sports in history"

There was a time many of us thought that PBC were to be sold and out of business (as WME would change the name after buying) so will not hold that against Fight Oracle.

Fight oracle PBC demise posts are also recent … that’s why I say he is full of it

I see FightOracle just some guy on Twitter, uses a Bruce Willis photo with glowing eyes, yea looks real reliable..

So according the Thompson, PFL is intent on keeping the season and playoff format and would just take 20 fighters and let go of the rest

The most valuable thing about Bellator is their roster. Makes no sense to cut 80% of them. I would imagine the top 20% would get their contract bought out and then the 80% would either need to renegotiate or kick rocks

Basically looking for a partner to help growth. Worth a full read though.

One thing I don't like about this article is Viacom is a massive multi billion dollar company. Investing money into your own product you own is 100% completely doable if you believe in it. Instead you want to partner with some investment group to help share the cost of growing or sustaining Bellator. If you believe in your product you don't need this at all. Why make everything more complicated behind the scenes then it needs to be?

My take on it. Viacom is hoping to get some investment group to invest say 200M for X% of Bellator or whatever and then hope that few years down the road they build it up and want out in hopes of this said investment group to pay them 100's of millions more.
