News Bellator sale talks heating up

Publicity wise I've always thought of it as a bad thing, but maybe people have stopped caring.
People "care" but not really. I think we will only see a true decline or backlash in Saudi-owned properties in US once the governments part ways

Not surprised, I can imagine that Bellator events aren't particularly profitable, so no wonder Paramount wants to get rid of them.
But is there even someone else, who is willing to put a lot of money in a product like Bellator?

Pfl maybe?

Bellator has probably lost its #2 spot to PFL at this point. I havent watched a bellator card in a long time and the only one I did, I went to live in person. BKFC and PFL have better name recognizable stars then bellator does at this point.

No. If Bellator and PFL held an event in the same city, Bellator would sell more tickets. If Bellator and PFL were on the same channel, Bellator would get more viewers. Bellator lost some steam but PFL does not have more recognizable stars. As far as homegrown stars, I can only think of Kayla and she doesn't even want to be there anymore.

BKFC has more recognizable stars because they are just getting UFC castoffs.

B-b-but if chrisdiaz hasnt watched Bellator in a while it means that they have lost their spot as #2.

I dont think we care enough to boycott. Plus, too many entities are affiliated to Saudi money to virtuesignal one in particular.

Watching the last two PFL events…… I don’t think so

Dont know if Saudi's would want it. They were going for big fish in WWE not something tiny like Bellator. WWE had a presence in Saudi too doing those events there, is Bellator holding events over there?

I dont know, who knows but would think Universal or FOx would be more likely right? think if they werent owned by Viacom and were just shopping for tv deals insead of being used on Viacom networks like Paramount and Showtime that Fox might have made a play after losing UFC. Could have said we lost UFC so lets get top wrestling, a boxing and number 2 mma org and have all three represented.

People have moved past it, WWE does shows, all the big boxing happening there, UFC fighters still fucking hang out with warlords and outside of one dude at Bloodyelbow reporting it nobody cares.

"Considering the UFC’s $7 billion valuation and DAZN’s reported $8 billion value, along with the WWE’s $9 billion valuation Triller’s combat sports macrocosmic ecosystem, including BKFC and Fite.TV, seems to point to Triller covertly and strategically having built a ten billion dollar plus Combat Sports Juggernaut."

In fact I was just looking at jobs for SNK (the Japanese video game company that makes Neo Geo, King of Fighters, Metal Slug etc) and I see they're now owned by Saudi as well. They're expanding a lot because of it.

People don't really look at companies owned by autocracies as bad anymore. There is too much variables in media that determine that.
Saudi owns like 7% of Nintendo, but that is still the largest shareholder outside of Nintendo.

I am almost positive ONE is already bigger than PFL already in the United States. Comparing PFL to Bellator is jokes, not as jokes as the guy saying Bellator is 5 billion but still jokes.

PFL is really small and doesn't have a great marketing angle. All their home grown talent can't really move out of the niche of the hyper nerd MMAsphere like us. Like someone said, Kayla was their only one who has some traction (which is a shame because they have dynamite fighters, but only PFL regulars know them which is obviously a small circle). They need good booking of Paul (and additional people like Diaz/Ngannou tbh) to move into the next tier of awareness.

It does not help that a lot of the best PFL fighters were in the UFC at a mega young age and lost, so even on the interwebs people just say they were UFC rejects.

Yeah, BKFC events are a bigger draw than PFL events.

Not a fan of One and do not see them as worth a billion. But looking at their other assets they own the gyms and apps and consultation businesses are part of the package so put their worth as over Bellator & PFL but not as high as Glory KB.

"Net Worth Spot predicts that Bellator MMA has an estimated net worth of $10.67 million. However, some folks have actually approximated that Bellator MMA is really worth much more than that. When our experts take into consideration income sources beyond Instagram, it's likely Bellator MMA could be worth more than $17.08 million." -https://www.networthspot.com/bellatormma/net-worth/instagram/

I think a buyer like Thriller or the Saudis picking them up would be very bad. What Bellator needs (other than a rename and brand change) is a platform. Thriller would stick them on FiteTV never to be seen again, whilst if LIV Golf is anything to go by, tv networks are reluctant to get into bed with the Saudis.

Of the touted buyers, Fox or Amazon seem to be the best options as they can showcase Bellator prominently without needing to rely on a third party.

Saudi is a double edged sword really. They're rich, but it's blood money.
Nah, we’ve already seen how this will play out with English football clubs, the World Cup and WWE. Folks will create this fake outrage at first and begin saying they will boycott it to get themselves attention, but then when the next thing trendy to boycott comes up, they’ll jump on that and move on from this.

There was a ton of people on reddit for example who claimed they would be boycotting the World Cup and there were a few posters who recompiled their posts and comments where they said they wouldn’t be watching it before it started. Once it started, those same people who said they would be boycotting it, were commenting on every posts there how great the games were and how it’s been one of the best World Cup’s ever. When they all got exposed for their fake outrages, they came up with the “yeah, I say I was boycotting it and I did, I watched it through an illegal stream so they would make any revenue from me watching it” excuse. Although we all know if they streamed the World Cup illegally, then they’re the same people that would’ve streamed it illegally anyway in the first place. Regardless of them streaming it illegally or not, the World Cup still drew massive TV ratings.

Same with WWE. When the Saudi Arabia deal occurred and they began running shows there, a lot of wrestling fans began claiming they would boycott the company entirely. Regardless of the fake outrage, WWE still recorded profits, great TV ratings and huge attendances.

I would never defend Saudi Arabia, but a lot of these folks unfortunately don’t really care and only do it because they know it will bring them attention if they publicly say it in public and to them, that’s all that really matters.

if the network that built the UFC couldnt make it work nobody can. Bellator is dead no matter who buys it. PFL and One will also die because both rely heavily on investment capital. With cost of capital skyrocketing (interest rates) businesses that dont make profits will be dying first ie businesses like PFL and ONE
