Saudi is a double edged sword really. They're rich, but it's blood money.
Nah, we’ve already seen how this will play out with English football clubs, the World Cup and WWE. Folks will create this fake outrage at first and begin saying they will boycott it to get themselves attention, but then when the next thing trendy to boycott comes up, they’ll jump on that and move on from this.
There was a ton of people on reddit for example who claimed they would be boycotting the World Cup and there were a few posters who recompiled their posts and comments where they said they wouldn’t be watching it before it started. Once it started, those same people who said they would be boycotting it, were commenting on every posts there how great the games were and how it’s been one of the best World Cup’s ever. When they all got exposed for their fake outrages, they came up with the “yeah, I say I was boycotting it and I did, I watched it through an illegal stream so they would make any revenue from me watching it” excuse. Although we all know if they streamed the World Cup illegally, then they’re the same people that would’ve streamed it illegally anyway in the first place. Regardless of them streaming it illegally or not, the World Cup still drew massive TV ratings.
Same with WWE. When the Saudi Arabia deal occurred and they began running shows there, a lot of wrestling fans began claiming they would boycott the company entirely. Regardless of the fake outrage, WWE still recorded profits, great TV ratings and huge attendances.
I would never defend Saudi Arabia, but a lot of these folks unfortunately don’t really care and only do it because they know it will bring them attention if they publicly say it in public and to them, that’s all that really matters.
