Bellator releases seven fighters

I get worried when talented, little known guys lose in Bellator nowadays. They are in a position to be cut no matter how exciting they are. Seriously, is Rory MacDonald worth having like 14 guys in each division?
maybe lol 170 is shaping up if you add Rory Mcdonald and its a decent little division not to mention Josh Koscheck is still gonna debut

Paul Daley - 38-14
Douglas Lima - 27-6
Andrey Koreshkov(C) - 19-1
Michael "Venom" Page - 11-0
Brendan Ward - 13-4
Chidi Njokuani 15-4
Adam McDonough - 11-1
Paul Bradley - 23-6

Why release Richman he's 6 month away or so from suspension being over and he's one of the most exciting guys on the roster
his suspension started June of last year

He has almost a year left and it will be at least another 3 months before he gets on a card since you can't sign a fight contract until the suspension is fully over (he won't be on a card till Fall 2017).

Paul Bradley recently signed with WSOF.

Bellator is losing alot of quality guys. Sad to see Jensen and Richman go.

Paul Bradley is gone and I doubt we see Brennan Ward fight for a while my man lol

damn lol if only wsof and bellator merged we'd have some decent divisions

- Paul Bradley's gone
- McDonough hasn't fought since Bjorn-Bellator was a thing
- Ward will be gone for a while
- Koscheck's been injured twice in a row and is on a 5 fight losing streak.
- Douglas Lima is constantly injured and has Cain'd the division when he was champ.

With only a couple top guys and no mid-level fighters, this division will just look like a WSOF division. I don't think they should starve their other divisions which need more talent just to have one big mediocre division.

Clearing money for the santos medical bill clearly.

I kid i kid, but in all seriousness these cuts as some have mentioned just really hurt the depth of the divisions , i just dont understand releasing dave jansn at all , they wont be satisfied until michael chandler is the only lightweight on their roster, and i really liked butler as well added depth to the hw division and their were till plenty of matchups that made sense for him there. Just dissapointing

bellator needs to be able to afford the next dada 5000 fight i guess

2 fight losing streak then your out, they should apply the baseball rule.3 loses and you'are out.

Dave Jansen is a big surprise, he went the distance with probably the two best LWs in the division, one he'd previously beaten. But then again he only fights once a year, guess they figure they'll just resign him in April of 2017 and give him a fight, then recut him.

More guys for WSOF. Hopefully. Bummed about Alexander though. I legit thought that guy was for real at one point.

Cards are gonna be pretty top heavy now with no depth lol.

Sucks but really no need for mid level guys with Cokers match making style. He usually makes squash matches and then puts the top guys against each other so only need low level and high level guys.

those are some bad cuts. never thought i would say this but i am starting to care less and less about Bellator. Coker/Viacom are F*cking up big time imo.

The list includes 12-fight veteran Mike Richman (18-6 MMA, 7-5 BMMA), currently serving a two-year suspension after a failed drug test, and former title challenger Dave Jansen (20-4 MMA, 7-2 BMMA), who snapped a seven-fight winning streak with back-to-back losses to then-champ Will Brooks and, more recently, Marcin Held.

Other promotional veterans who no longer fight under the Bellator banner are Mikkel Parlo (13-2 MMA, 4-3 BMMA), Raphael Butler (9-2-1 MMA, 4-2-1 BMMA) and Houston Alexander (16-14-1 MMA, 1-3-1 BMMA).

With two consecutive setbacks since joining the promotion last year, former “King of Pancrase” Isao Kobayashi (18-4-4 MMA, 0-2 BMMA) is also on the list, as well as MMA veteran Thiago Goncalves Jambo – who, following an unsuccessful debut, announced his retirementearlier today on social media.
Dave Jansen is stupid to get rid of... And I don't see Brennan Ward with his recent legal actions he should have got the axe but they like that shit

I find it very stupid, for example in the London card, it wasn't difficult to pick the winners of the main card
IMO this move makes the fights less intriguing

The Strikeforce Heavyweight division proves that Coker and Chou can do great things with filled out divisions. Having only top-heavy divisions results in constant rematches, premature title shots, and awful matchmaking. That's basically what killed off the Middleweight division. It's getting hard to take Bellator seriously with that type of style.

"Yeah, let's starve our divisions but let's sign some College wrestlers who aren't even ready to fight yet!"

sounds like they're running out of money to pay these fighters so fuck em

Can't think of any real reason to do it

You have to remember they arent UFC, not only do they not run alot of events they dont use the undercard to give guys fights. Those spots mostly go to locals who are there to sell tickets.

So They dont have alot of room to give guys like Jansen or Houston fights like the UFC can. So they let alot of guys go.

dont care much about any of those guys, but i would imagine jansen woulda been a very good gate keeper
