Bellator new Signings thread

The issue with Trabelsi is he's just a LHW who doesn't cut weight, he could easily make 205lbs.
That's not always the best course of action though, I remember the same was said about Ledet and he went from undefeated HW prospect to a can for more talented guys to crush when he dropped down.

Boser was similarly ineffective when moving down recently. I'd prefer if Slim stayed there until he takes a loss.

Wasnt anyone other place to go besides PFL. She could have waited till Aug and been free and clear of Bellators matching rights and gone anywhere to fight anyone. Even with Kayla's loss that fight still would have been a big deal but she's comfortable in Bellator and likes coker and has Cat and McMann to fight.

Kayla will be free on November from her contract with PFL, so the fight will more than likely happen in Bellator at some point.

I can understand them re-signing their own fighters, but you'd think they'd be in a holding pattern with signing new talent with all that's going on.
I'm not sure we know what's going on. Could be that a deal resulting in a serious influx in cash is also on the table.

Or you're right and they are irresponsibly spending money only to he bought out and absorbed in the coming months.

Im surprised Bellator keeps signing LWs. They desperately need some MWs more than anything.

There's unfortunately very few quality MWs to be signed in the entire sport. Between Dalton Rosta, Norbert Novenyi Jr, Imamshafi Aliev, Jordan Newman and maybe a few others I'm forgetting they at least have some skin in the game in terms of talent and a brighter 185lb future. Realistically they'd need to aggressively try to bid for other promotions MWs, it's just tough.

I personally hope Jora debuts at 145lbs, he's a bit too small for 155lbs to be successful there in Bellator I feel.

There's some solid dudes out there. Picking up Iron Pol, Djati Melan, Mikhail Ragozin types isn't unrealistic and would add some solid depth to the division.

Man, those aren't great recommendations. You're kind of proving my point here, theres not much in the barrel at 185lbs. Ragozin and Mariusz are in their 30s and pretty proven to be mediocre, Ragozin is better of the two. Djati I'm not familiar with, think I've just seen his loss to Duncan.

They're solid fighters. It's filling out a roster. Not every signing is going to be a potential UFC champion, you need guys who are like that and provide stiff tests for people coming up. I reckon both those guys would be very live against Sharaf and he's in the top 10.

Yeah, they don't solve the issue of a very shallow top 10 and not many interesting challengers for Eblen to face though. They'd thicken up the bottom end of the top 10-15 sure and there's worth to that, but my point was just there's not a lot of Murtazas and Lucas Fernandos at 185lbs to be signed, so few really compared to 170lbs and lower. Not a lot of really solid established guys who would make for challenging fits to the top 10 as veterans either without Bellator pulling out their check book. Middleweight is pretty bare globally, doesn't mean there aren't guys.

They could try throwing money at Mineev once he comes back from Ukraine (I'd personally favour him to beat Eblen).

I guess having guys like I mentioned just gives more work to up and comers so they aren't climbing the rankings to get ready for the likes of Eblen and Tokov by beating Charlie Ward.

I mean would you be that confident Fabian would beat Ragozin?

I mean everything above Welterweight is pretty thin in the entire sport, I think it is easy to forget if you are in our MMA bubble how crazy of a plan it is to become a full time MMA Fighter. If you are that size and athletic there is sports that are "easier" to compete in where you don't need as much grit and pain tolerance.

Also everything starting with MW is basically above the average size of most of the world population so it is not that many option to begin with. I wish MMA was bigger as a sport in general with more monetary gain, then I think we would see more people pursuing a carreer in MMA. I often get a reality check when I realize how disconnected the average person is from martial arts in general, most people really do not have a clue how fighting really works and not how it is potrayed in movies.

I think the bigger your weight class is the less likely you are to want to get hit by someone the same size. If I look at someone the same size as me I don't want them punching me in the face, fuck that.

If I was a lot smaller it's probably not as scary lol.
