I still can't figure out why he won't spend time on his ground game. That old method of knowing a few subs doesn't cut it anymore. He really needs help with his defensive wrestling and regaining his feet.

If by bad career decisions, you talking about where he went after Strikeforce, I agree. When he chose to focus on kickboxing instead of signing with the UFC after the strikeforce acquisition, it was almost as disappointing as his results in kickboxing, although I have no idea how the payout has been for him in Glory, M1, etc. He picked up some wins in kickboxing, but he lost in first round of glory heavyweight tournament twice. MMA since then has been a little better. I wonder what could have been if he came over to the UFC with the other strikeforce heavyweights. Instead he's 5-0 in MMA in fights that I didn't realize were happening until they already happened.

The answer seems to be he isn't really a gym rat on any level. I think he puts in the bare minimum over the last 6 to 8 years or so. Which is also why a lot of orgs haven't taking him to seriously.

Well I don't know why you'd lie about it haha. It's a good opportunity for him, but honestly at Kharitonov's age idk why he would need a fight like this. No time to build him up in the promotion.
