Bellator name change

Skeletor.jpg

SKELETOR MMA!!!

I've been told recently that they are looking to change the name.

"The Mixed Martial Arts League."

Bland and generic, but it makes it sound "legit".
Like something the mainstream audience could watch without being embarrassed about it.

Dumping 6 years of hard-earned name recognition would be stupid, but I suppose Viacom/Spike might want to "self-brand" it for extra attention (or to hinder it, if they ever sold it off and signed/bought a different org, I guess).

I would say WSOF has the best name for an MMA org it fits better with names like NBA, NFL, MLB, MLS and NHL. The Ultimate in UFC reminds me of pro wrestling. And no one knew what Bellator meant at first until they found out it meant warrior in Latin.

Bleah.

Name recognition aside and just talking about the quality of the name itself, I think Bellator is easily the best name of all the major and mid-size orgs.

The rest are just a confusable, bland, alphabet soup mix of acronyms.

For a promotion (not league/governing body) I would prefer a single word rather than an acronym

Bellator is good but I like also Dream, Pride, Deep, Jewels, Invicta, ... without words like "fight" or "combat" ...

latin words sounds good as names for MMA orgs

Teh Ultimate Fighting Championship.

And as a logo they should do: tUFC, with a very very small T.
So that every hype UFC has with random fans would be also given to them as random folks wouldn't even know :P
