I hear itnis streaming on nbcsportsnet site for those that want to see he has made the finals where itnis best out of three and the series is 1-1 the deciding matxh shoulf be in 10 minutes. Pico is the higher ranked wrestler and expected to win. At the very least he has become the crowd favorite here in Iowa where they normally only cheer on Hawkeyes

can you explain the scoring system briefly? how is 4-4 a win for that guy, does it go to some sort of advantage system if it's tied in points?

That guy one large takedown worth 4 points. Pico got a pushout (1 pt) a staling penalty against his opponent (1pt) and a takedown (2pt).

If its a tie, tiebreaker goes to the wrestler who got the largest single move. He was the better wrestler over then three matches but sometimes if an opponent stales luck can work out for them.

Frank Molinaro became the United States Olympic Trials men's freestyle 65 kg (143-pound) champion with a stirring come-from-behind 2-1 win over 19-year-old phenom Aaron Pico in the best-of-three championship series.

So does this mean Pico is going to mma now that he isn't an Olympian? Was that his plan?

He was always planning on doing MMA after the Olympics, even if he made the team. He'll just fight more MMA now, and probably sooner.

Can he still make the team as an alternate or is that it?

Yup. If that guy gets hurt he would take his spot. Its probably still too big of a possibility for him to make the full on MMA jump before August even though its super unlikely that the guy gets hurt enough to not go.

Ruth just lost in his 2nd match though, so he can get started right away.

Wow that sucks for Pico, hopefully he can make the next Olympics

Man that sucks that he lost, I think it's kind of silly they decide who the competitior is going to be based on only a 3-match series. Why wouldn't you just pick the best guy?
