Bellator kicks off its fall season at the Mohegan Sun in Conn on Sept 5th.

UFC just announced they will be running a Fight Night At Foxwoods in Conn Sept 5th.

Lots will be made of this head to head battle, who sells more tickets, bigger gates, better card, ratings.

Mohegan is actually Bellators best market in terms of ticket sales. WIll be season debut so they should come strong. What the UFC does will be interesting.

Let the battle begin.

I think there's no question that the UFC will outsell and have the better ratings. I hope for the opposite but it's VERY unlikely.

Its like the Monday Night Wars all over again

I bet bellator does something like, Marcus Davis in a catch weight main event, after injuries of course.

No there won't be. Please stop trying to pretend that Bellator is competition on any level. They are not. The ppv showed that and we know what the ratings are. You're a better poster than this.

As Dave Meltzer writes, Bellator sells almost no tickets to their events and has to paper the crowd. This is like comparing a WWE and TNA event. Casuals have no clue what Bellator even is. But they sure as hell know what the UFC is. Come on.

Nice I'll try to go to one live. Most likely the UFC card.

Bellator also averaged 670k last season but with fights like Kongo or Page or a titel fight they do 700-800k.

Thats what UFC has been doing on alot of fight nights, in the 700k range.

I think UFC will do a bigger gate for sure, maybe sell around the same or more tickets but Bellator can def do better ratings for this card.

Surprised UFC is going back to the casino circuit for CT. I figured they'd either just stick with MA for New England shows until Vince McMahon's old Greenwich money stops blocking MMA from being legalized and sanctioned.

I attended a UFC show a while ago in CT where Paul Buentello jobbed out to Arlovski.

No matter the ratings Bellator is sure to put on the better card. UFC will have to stack theirs. If Pitbull vs Curran is on it i'ma try my best to go. UFC has too many watered down fight cards. It's the beginning of the season so Bellator is gonna go big no doubt.

You think there will be fighter mingling, or will the respective promotions forbid their contracted athletes from brothering it up with the competition??

Hmm, this is going to be a Friday UFC event... VERY interesting. I doubt it will be stacked given the day, so Bellator has a legit chance of putting on an equally competitive card...

Knowing so far in advance, Bellator can really throw together a good collection of fights...

Bellator has no reason not to completely stack this card...

A card that could SERIOUSLY contend with a UFC card?

Curran vs PitBull
Kongo vs L.Johnson
Thompson vs Lashley 2
Sosnovskiy vs Etherington
Ivonov vs Butler

Make that Round 1 of a HW tournament and you have a serious card and a serious tournament.

Curran/Pitbull is a barn burner any MMA can should want to see... Kongo and Johnson bring some big HW banger names, and HWs bring the viewers... Thompson/Lashley brings in some of the TNA crowd... Sosnovkiy/Etherington brings an intriguing undefeated HW fight... All around a significant card and hypable...

And Bellator will certainly be bringing in some locals, something the UFC may not do.

You have no idea what either card will look like.

For example next Sat UFC Fight night is better than basically every Bellator card other than their PPV.

Last we heard Bellator was putting the Middleweight tourney, aka the worst division they have.

This could be ugly.
