...Even in the aftermath of his win over Brady in Abu Dhabi, Muhammad heard the UFC was targeting Chimaev against Colby Covington in early 2023. It’s just a matchup he doesn’t see happening.

“I think that’s literally the only fight to me”, addressing the Chimaev fight. “For me, it’s Leon or Khamzat, and I think that us two makes the most sense."

“I know they’re talking about Colby, but I don’t think Colby’s going to take that fight. Colby hasn’t taken a hard fight or a fight against a guy coming off a win since Kamaru. Kamaru is the only guy he’s fought in his last eight fights that wasn’t on a two-fight losing streak.”

Muhammad doesn’t understand why Covington continues to be ranked in the welterweight division given what he considers a less than impressive resume.

“Colby, he gets the credit as the guy that would be the champion if Kamaru wasn’t there, but who’s he beat? Masvidal on a three-fight losing streak. He beat Woodley on a five-fight losing streak. Other than that, it’s been nothing but lightweights. Why is this guy getting all this credit in the world when I’m the guy that’s beating the ranked guys?"

“I definitely do think I’m the harder matchup for Khamzat. I think my striking’s way better than Colby’s, and I’m comfortable being in that fire, where that last fight with Khamzat where he fought with Gilbert Burns, when he was in that fire, he got emotional and he started going against the game plan and got tired. Colby’s not comfortable being in that fire. Colby’s not comfortable – ‘if I can’t take you down and I have to strike with you’ – he’s not comfortable there."

He’s been active. That alone gives him more of an argument to be in a number 1 contender fight than Colby.

He’s not very exciting to watch. But he’s earned his ranking. He deserves Borz, or a TS, imo.

Colby isn’t fighting anybody any time soon.
 
Colby is in the courtroom fighting for a paycheck. Man is under a lot of stress and trauma right now., thankfully Nelk Boys give him a lot of support.

I would pick colby and khamzat to beat Belal. He has a better shot of beating colby IMO

Yeah he's kind of getting into that position Leon Edwards was in prior to the title shot.

His problem is that if Khamzat wins against Colby then they are obviously going to give him the shot, so if I was Belal I would be rooting for Colby with everything I have.

I don't like Colby. But he's worked for it too. Dude's basically played heel so hard he's got no friends left. LOL. All part of his act and he's paid for it in full. Can't really say he hasn't

Belal is the 1 fighter who shakes Chimaev to his core. After witnessing live and in person; Brady getting absolutely shut down by Belal's boxing. Brady being a great grappler probably figured it would turn into kickboxing match with fellow grappling phenom Belal but was shown quickly that Belal is not only a great wrestler but good enough on the feet to give maybe even Conor McGregor trouble.

Why has Chimaev turned his attention to water brained Colby? Watching Brady's spirit leave his body at the hands of Belal is why. Chimaev is afraid and it's clear as day

Brady didn’t even get knocked out and was still standing when the fight ended, relax you weirdo

Belal is a great fighter and a legit contender but everyone wants to see Colby get fucking annihilated by Khamzat so there’s no reason to make the Khamzat vs Belal fight over Khamzat vs Colby
 
not hard, cause colby significantly better and anyone who watch the usman fights knows how close they were. First one lost because of freak injury, second lost because colby's mistake in round 5 but he had in the bag.

He looked good in his last fight but he’s still too annoying for his own good. Sorry Belal
