You've heard some discredit Conor's masterful counter KO of Aldo over the years on sherdog

"Bu but made technical errors/jumped in due to being emotional"

And yet you watch Aldo KO Stephens, and it was the exact same case there, and to an even greater extent. Aldo jumped in leaning forward. His backfoot was literally off the ground

PotableMarriedEasternglasslizard-size_restricted.gif

Look at his back foot completely off the ground

In fact Aldo was actually much more tighter and much more technically correct against Conor

As you can see there, Aldo was much tighter against Conor.

- Isnt leaning in as much. Much more subtle in his intentions, and his backfoot never actually leaves off the ground

Just compare, and you will see Aldo WAS actually "reckless" against Stephens. Aldo actually did make technical errors against Stephens

It's like with Anderson Silva fans. When ever Anderson "clowned" an opponent and it worked "omg amazing"

Yet when ever a better fighter would make Anderson pay for doing what he's always done..."doesn't count" and insert random excuse here ___

ALDO HAS ALWAYS "JUMPED IN"

And this isn't a thread to diminish Aldo nor his great win. This is simply to expose the ignorant double standards from sherdog posters

You cant praise Aldo for this win, yet then excuse or diminish his losses, just because....

In every single fight Aldo is always leaning in/jumping in etc

Aldo has always had major issues with being jumpy to fients and or over-extending in boxing exchanges

A much better fighter to Aldo in Conor, simply made Aldo pay for doing what he's always done against lesser fighters

That's why, skill wise and stylistically, Conor will always wreck Aldo.

Conor with his sophisticated fienting systems, Lead hand radar systems, footwork, range control and immaculate counter punching skill will always have Aldo jumpy/over-extending/and walking into - or "jumping" into his counters etc

This is why Holloway beat Aldo. His fients+jabs kept Aldo continually off set. His length, chin, and pressure then would eventually overwhelm him

All though to be fair, Aldo has a much greater chance of beating Holloway then ever coming close to Conor.

Conor's footwork and counter punching are a death sentence for Aldo...where as in both fights vs Holloway, Aldo has had lots of success against Holloway....Its just a matter of Aldo having the right gameplan against Holloway (which I can go into detail for another post)

So anyway the point is,

Don't discredit or diminish Conor's and Holloway's wins over Aldo. Aldo has always had the same strengths AND FLAWS. Aldo is just as big as them and cuts just as much weight as them too btw. Conor and Holloway are simply better fighters. PERIOD. No excuses.

Just because Aldo beat Stephens that doesnt mean he's now suddenly ever coming close to Conor McGregor who has vastly superior boxing skill and striking skill to Aldo

And Holloway will always be a very tough fight for Aldo, that Aldo will have to have the perfect gameplan for and fight his best fight to beat

Much respect to Aldo for his win. This thread is simply about adressing the double standard excuses people make for his losses, and about keeping realistic expectations in check

Now after saying what I feel needed to be said, Aldo vs Ortega would be an absolutely great fight. Ortega doesn't seem to have the strengths that would exploit Aldo's flaws (unless he gameplanned correctly) and it would be interesting to see who would be better on the ground. Even Aldo vs Mendes 3 is there now too, and that's awesome. Imagine what a BARN BURNER that fight would be?

True but he saw the opening and probably wasnt concerned about defense to land that. Perfect technique doesnt guarantee a perfect outcome.

He's undisciplined and these "tiny" mistakes is why Conor will always be better than him.
If he was undisciplined he wouldnt have 9 title defenses. Only losing to guys that are too big for the division to begin with.

Responding that fast, it's clear you didn't actually read my thread

Aldo jumping in with that body shot against Conor would've been KOd the exact same way again by Conor

You cant excuse or diminish his loss to Conor, then praise his win over Stephens.

Aldo always jumps in.

This thread was about exposing the double standards/excuses

It's like when Anderson fans worship Anderson when his "clowning" goes right against brawlers, yet then make excuses when better fighters are able to make him pay for it

You feel me?

Stay realstic and keep expectations in check

Conor and Holloway are simply better fighters period

Who the fucks gonna read all that trivial shit?

I only read the couple sentences
aldo took a chance and it didn't pay off..its only a mistake in hindsight

Anyone who disagrees with you is a casual that should go back to watching wwe and working in mcdonalds.

if you had ended the thread at "Aldo has always had major issues with being jumpy to fients (sic) and or over-extending in boxing exchanges", it would have been a solid thread.

but you just couldn't help yourself from engaging in a slob knobbing.

which is too bad.

Besides the obvious fact that Aldo lunged in far more against Conor (if he didn't get KO'd you would have seen just how much he was lunging in after the combo), it was more Aldo STARTED the fight with it. Aldo almost always (in the UFC) feels out his opponent and gets their timing down to start a fight before lunging at his opponent (which he has a bad habit of doing as the fight goes on )

I've been saying since it happened that Aldo has always leaped in like that, people were just looking for an excuse to discredit Conor.

Conor knew Aldo throws that shot and had the counter ready to fire, anyone still on the fluke narrative is delusional.

The thing people need to look at when judging him is not just his wins and losses, but the manner in which they happened.

Look at a guys like Eddie or Dustin, top tier LW's who are gonna make it a scrap against anyone in the LW division win or lose, but Conor is not only able to beat them, but he's is able to make it look like they don't belong in the octagon with him.

This is stupid.
Why?

You want to know what is truly stupid?

Making excuses to diminish Conor's brilliant masterful KO of Aldo, just the way Conor abolsutely humiliated Aldo...

But then praise Aldo for this win, like if he's some new or better fighter

ALDO ALWAYS over-extends and or JUMPS IN

Conor the superior fighter MADE Aldo pay for it

There are no excuses for Aldo's losses

He won against lesser fighters doing the exact same things @ANIM4L

In fact, Aldo was actually technically correct against Conor.

Aldo made no errors against Conor. Conor was just that much superior.

So Conor should get even more praise for his masterful counter KO of Aldo

Aldo making more errors and being reckless against Stephens, KOd Stephens

That tells you everything

You cant just excuse Aldo's losses because of fanboysim

You have to accept Aldo's flaws, as well as you praise his strengths

Conor actually counter KOd the most prime version of Aldo in history who was at the abolsute top of his game
