As a fighter Cormier is the second best to ever step in the cage at Light Heavyweight and is top 10 all time across all weight classes. He has 1 loss on his record by decision to arguably the GOAT.

The potential rematch between Jones and Cormier is being glossed over for other fights that could potentially be more exciting when this fight is between two historical greats both of which are in their primes.
 
I just realized DC has 2 more fights than Cain while fighting in MMA for almost 4 years less.
 
I think you're overrating Cormier quite a bit. He's good, maybe even great but 2nd best lhw ever and all time top 10 in any class doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Maybe he will go down as that but he's got a lot to prove
 
Ya but we already saw it and Jones won while doing blow during camp. Now he is working out like a maniac. We all know how this fight is going to go.
 
I like Cormier a lot since Strikeforce days, but

First, Cormier is, imo, past his prime.
2nd, i dunno about top 10 all time across all weight classes, seems a bit of a stretch. in fact, its not even remotely close to accurate.
3rd, i disagree he is 2nd best guy at LHW ever.

I think chuck, rampage, rashad, machida, hendo, shogun were all better. their records might not be as neat as DC's but they have fought a murders row in the past 5 - 10 years in that division.

Wow, I'm surprised at how many people disagree with this, can somebody tell me who beats Cormier except Jones and why? He may not have a lot of fights at LHW but he took a shot flush on the chin from Rumble and not only lived to tell the tale but went on to beat him, he also had a 5 round war with Alexander Gustaffson who probably beats most of the LHWs from Rashads era, but then again there were a few black american guys back then which seems to be Gus' weakness.

I dont think anyone is saying Cormier is bad, he is just not as great as the TS makes him out to be. Top 10 all time across all weight classes? cmon man. he would be lucky to make top 30 all time across all weight classes.
The guy is a gifted fighter and a great talent, but is on the same level as past LHW's?

Top 10 across all weight classes takes too long to think about so I'll concede on that but I mean I don't see any other LHWs beating him from any era, I'm not saying they're bad but man if you can't have your way with DC like Jones did then I don't see how anybody beats him, and I don't see any former LHW having his way with him like Jones did.
 
Would Jones be such a shitty driver if people close to Cormier hadn't died from traffic accidents?

I think if he doesn't knock Chuck out he submits him by the end of the 3rd round. Finishes Shogun on the ground as well.

Cormier destroys most past LHWs but you cannot judge all time greatness by comparing how they would do against each other but rather what have they achieved during their time. DC has a long way to go

I respectfully disagree.

EDIT... Many would argue Cormier never sniffs a belt had Jones not gone full retard. I'm not sure how you place him above legit champions like Rashad, and Lyoto.
