Bas Rutten on Joe Schilling: "With me, they’re going to have to throw the first punch."

I might be dead wrong. It was clear the guy was in the motion of throwing a punch. He could have been making a stabbing motion with a knife or wearing a pair of brass knuckles. A trained fighter intercepted and eliminated the threat.
The fuck got what he deserved. To me all the info after the fact is irrelevant.
It all happened fairly quick, if the guy had a knife which under different circumstances is possible, and Joe KO’d him he would be a badMF’r. He would be praised for eliminating a threat to himself and every other patron of the establishment.
In my opinion that’s a plausible argument and in a just world Schilling should face no repercussions maybe a picture over the Bar.
The goof should be charged with at least 3 or 4 offences.

I am afraid u r indeed "dead wrong" using your words. Not only was he not in the act of throwing a punch balboa was merely flexing which means a male dominance display designed to elevate social status in the context of a verbal situation. Dominant displays are meant to actually substitute for physical violence.

Shilling himself admitted that he only saw balboa as flexing and he hs never accused balboa of looking as if he were about to punch him and that he had to intercept that incoming punch with his own first. Instead schilling was saying therefore that the mere flex by balboa was enough to put him in fear - a flex from a 150 pound flabby inebriated person much shorter than he is.

Therefore all your speculation about balboa being about to punch is a non starter. Worse u even speculate about there being possibly a knife and knuckle duster when there was nothing of the sort happening here. The possibility of there beig suh weapons clearly never entered shilling's mind because it was shilling and not balboa who closed distance! That fact again was confirmed by schilling saying that balboa flexed at him which clearly shows he never contemplated an attack of any kind let alone an armed attack.

To add insult to injury u even suggested that balboa should be charged with 3 or 4 offences! For what??? Shouting hey after being shoved and leanig forward with chin stuck in the air and leaving himself completely open and unprotected in order to argue verbally wth schilling?

The fsct is the clip shows clearly balboa mare himself more vulnerable when he lened forward and he made it almost impossible to throw a punch which his weight forward off balance leaning forward his chin in the air and his chest stuck out and his arms swept behind his torso. Any attempt to punch would have been seen by schilling a mile away and would have been a weak arm punch without any real force - certainly nothing that would faze a profighrer.

Furthermore from the moment schilliling turned around to when he punched Balboa his movements were smooth and not interrupted and Unbroken. He didn't flinch or react at all to Balboa's movement.instead he even had time to execute a stepping right hook and just before that when he reached balboa he rocked his weight on his left foot and poised his right foot on its balls.this move is preparatory to a stepping punch most likely a stepping right hook. This is further evidence thr the right hook was premeditated m and not caused by balboa's own movement.

You replying with a meme instead of with reasoned argument and your admission that you did not read my post prove that you are unable to refute what I said and that I was right.

Even worse for you, your admission that you didn't even read my reply also proves that I was also correct in surmising that you didn't read my initial post properly either...

Yeah true.

The guy was a dick and in a way asked for it but I feel like everybody should get a pass with quite a lot when booze is involved.

It's like when people (sometimes women if you do something stupid drunk, ya know what I'm saying) say 'IT'S NOT AN EXCUSE!'... I say... actually I think it REALLY is. Like, if there was EVER to be an excuse for doing something you wouldn't normally do, I'd say it's being intoxicated with a substance that literally alters your inhibitions and ability to care about consequences. I mean, if that's not an excuse.. WHAT IS?.

Speaking as a general observation and more widely than this case, i suspect that in some people's minds when they come across someone who isn't in control of themselves like that, they could be seeejng "easy victim". It is the same mentality behind why schoolyard bullies target the small sized weak socially maladjhsted kid who is a loner - an easy victim whom no one is likely to stand up for and whom he or she can prey on to feed his or her own psychological need to feel like he or she is better or even where he or she can enjoy causing pain to others. I say he or she because women can be bullies too.

Yeah for sure.

It seems he probably has impulsive rage issues,
As if he likes being angry and violent, and so any excuse... and... the less resistance the better. Easy win (for him).

In fact see how many people say he deserves t just because he is a drunk.

Supposing we did an experiment and painted balboa as making the exact same actions and shouting hey but instead of saying he is a drunk we say he is a padre who is in the bar to try to persuade a drunk to go for therapy and that he is wearing the garb of one as well.

I suspect the reaction towards Schilling would be almost universally condemnation and nobody would be making excuses for his actions. Bur why should te fsct thfa the guy is a drunk and being annoying as drunks would tend to be automatically make him deserving of a beating when the same actions immediatelg prior to the punches would not expose a padre to the same fate?

..............

I think he was either being sarcastic or trolling, there wasn't any sort of weapon in Balboas hands. And if a mere flex can induce some kind of primal boom damage on Schilling who is using it as justification just shows how fragile he is.

The little bitch lawyer is the only winner in all of this ha.

Schilling got messages from Balboa’s ex?

First, I don’t believe in anything Schilling might claim in this matter. Second, did he at least post the screencaps or is he ‘protecting her anonimity’?

Fair enough I have never really followed the story unfold just seen the video.
In the video to me he looked as others have called it a bluff punch or something along those lines.
if JS said he was just flexing well that was stupid potential testimony on his part and also he was dead wrong to be throwing punches as a response really indefensible and silly for Pro.
