“It was tough,” Barboza said. “I’m still digesting it. I have a very good head, but I wasn’t expecting to lose – especially the way it was. I really wasn’t. I was very well-trained. My coaches did everything right. It was me, in the moment of the fight, who wasn’t able to … I fell into his game."

“I spent 15 minutes in his game. That was the whole problem. My coaches, they all did everything right. They had the right game plan. But I couldn’t. It was hard. It was hard, but in a good way. I’m trying to transform that hardship, that sadness the loss gave me, into hunger. I’m very hungry.”

“I couldn’t impose my game,” Barboza said. “I’m a fighter – if they offered me a fight against him tomorrow, I’d take it again for sure. I’d train and give it my best so that what happened in our last fight didn’t happen again. He does have various holes. But he’s able to get people to play into his game. And that’s the problem. That’s what happened to me. …"

“It’s something I almost always do, too, getting them to play my game. But this time I couldn’t. It’s a fight. It’s a chess game. Sometimes the pieces go together and sometimes they don’t. In this last fight, the pieces didn’t. That’s his merit.”

“I didn’t even take any medicine after the fight,” Barboza told MMAjunkie. “I have no injuries and no doubt I want to be back as soon as possible.”
“Mid-March, the end of March, that would be very cool,” Barboza said.
"Anyone else who’s closest, above me in the ranking, I’ll fight,” Barboza said. “There’s (Justin) Gaethje, there’s (Kevin) Lee, there are some people there. So whomever’s around, I’ll fight, for sure.”

Quite frankly, seems like barboza had a bit unrealistc expectations. He should have focused on trying to avoid khabib imposing his game... Not trying to get him to play his... Everybody knows khabib will never fall into that... Specially against a pedigree striker like barboza.
The one time i remember khabib trying to stand he almost got put away.
Edson says his coaches prepared him well, but he either completely disregard it during the fight or they dont know what the fuck they were doing.
Trying to get khabib to play his game? never happening... and edson looked completely unable to avoid khabibs offensive game.

What did they train for that camp really?! o_O

"The one time i remember khabib trying to stand he almost got put away."

This gets more hyperbolized every time it's brought up

He got wheel kicked in the neck. Had Edson not been exhausted, Khabib would have been face down.

Its true... he panic wrestles anytime someone lands or pressure him effectively. He looks desperate and like he doesnt know what to do besides it.

Ends up being sucessful though... but its pretty annoying. Like a street fighter character that has one move that is impossible to get around and mashes it whenever things get out of hand.

A grappler who looks to grapple after eating a shot? How absurd ...

He can do that... no problem. But im entitled to point it out as much as i want too.

For some reason rouseys armbar game, damian maia back control and others dont bother me. I find it interesting to see if they are going to be able to get it... but khabibs no... to me its boring as hell. And im entitled to this opinion as much as he is to resort to his only tactics.

Barboza probably has nightmares if he sleeps covered by a blanket.

Had it been earlier when Edson wasn't destroyed/tired Khabib would have closed the distance faster.

Well your opinion is stupid. If a grappler grapples after he eats a hard shot he's grappling, it's hardly panic wrestling lol.

Barboza is as tough as they come.

Here he is, laughing at the ref as the referee asks if he wants to stop. This was before the 3rd round vs Khabib.

At least maia, rousey and others are working toward a finish... while khalabeeb "pillow hands" nurmagomedov cant finish anyone.

Yup... finally figured out why his game doesnt entertain me.

Lol you think your comments are rustling me? I don't care what you think of Khabib, I was commenting on your misuse of the term "panic wrestling" ..... but sure keep going if you wanna put energy into it, Peabrain

clearly gotten to

Barboza did train for Khabib's game.
But like he said on some other interview, he didn't expect Khabib to be so much in his face.

He should've since that's 101 on beating Barboza, but still.

And once Khabib puts his guy down, it's pretty much over for the round.

Lol that's what I thought, you have no argument.
what argument? you said nothing... you made no points

you are trying to have the last word to be at peace with yourself after getting rustled. thats all it is.

im done here, see ya

Lol sure thing. Bye Peabrain

Khabib is obviously a better fighter than Edson. I don't even like to say that. Styles make fights and Edson is a very favorable match up for Khabib's style. I'm not trying to take anything away from Khabib though, he's an incredible fighter but Edson doesn't have the ground game to neutralize of some Khabib's ground and pound. Maybe nobody does, its hard to say. I think El CooCoo has the best chance because of his BJJ game.
