If he planned to lose - why collude with Russia? I think he wanted to win, but didn't think he would and had come to accept it. Melania definitely didn't want it - that much was obvious all along. I also think others around him wanted him to win more - Donnie Jr and Kushner being two big pushers. Just so happens those two are the ones looking to Russia for help.
