Wand is the most ballsiest, exciting fighter I’ve seen. I’ve never seen anyone throw caution to the wind like he did.

His genetics should be studied.

Dude got tree stumps for calves too…. Like stupidly big. His muscle bellies are just big. Probably the reason he was able to explode the way he did.

This awesome picture is what I think of when I think of this fight. Wanderlei was supposed to fight Sakuraba but accepted the fight with the 280+lb Hunt who's the polar opposite style to Sakuraba and allowed stomps and soccer kicks despite the huge weight difference and having the option to not allow them because of the huge weight difference.

Wanderlei has the biggest balls of any fighter of all time.

This and his fights with Cro Cop were dangerous things to agree to.

Either Wand, or Saku, it's between them.

Akira Shoji. The only reason he was ever able to make Open Weight (180 up) was by having 50lbs of balls.

They requested until KO is all i know and it was a bit of a pride/K1 cross up. After that I think Crocop did one more K1 attempt and then became a full time Pride fighter.

I remember watching this PPV live, it was the first Pride event I watched live.

Albeit the juice Wand was pretty much a middleweight who took on all comers.

A lot of people don’t know that his first fight with Crocop was a draw because it was still early in Crocops MMA career and he ( crocop ) requested a draw in the event there was no knockout . I’m positive had that not been the case Wand would have gotten the nod.

No doubt Wand would have got the decision over Cro Cop. Aside a few body kicks and head strikes, Cro Cop didn't do much that fight and was taken down repeatedly and Wand landed good strikes himself.

The Japanese did not like Wanderlei destroying their manufactured icon Sakuraba. Wand refused their bribes to throw a fight 3 times and smashed him in all 3 fights.

So they had to get him back by matching him up against heavyweights repeatedly untill his chin broke down. It was a travesty and another shame about this org.

I think these will go down better if you don't spend part of the post trashing the UFC before you get to the bit where you enthusiastically talk about what you do like which is cool.

I support reminding modern UFC fans how much better things could be. It makes it a little bit harder for the UFC to keep lowering the bar.

More of a pro wrestler than an MMA fighter. There is a reason that in every single big win of his other than the Gracies, the opponent looked off and behaved differently compared to every other fight.
