I disagree, thought his performance was a high point of a meandering movie. But im tempted to agree with you based purely on the Hitchens AV.

The Joker is only formidable because he toys with Batman's morality. He hides behind hostages and takes advantage of Batman's unwillingness to kill. He wouldn't really have any leverage against Bane in that regard and Bane's just as good as Batman at tracking and outsmarting people. He'd do what Batman always does, but instead of handing Joker over to the authorities, he'd KILL his ass.

Bane is stronger and just as smart as the Bat, only difference is he's a killer. Joker would have died from the get go against a Batman willing to kill.

In a fight between them, Bane. However, the Joker will always be the Batman's arch nemesis because the Joker attacks the very foundation in which the Batman stands by which is not killing your opponents. The Joker does not fear death, he welcomes the Batman to try it.
