What is going on with this fella, double olympic champion, calling out Usyk a few months ago, yet is totally flying under the radar fighting guys with 7-3 records and not being able to stop them

unbeaten in 16 now but i wonder whether his handlers have seen something and know he isnt going to be anything special, we all wanted and expected him to really start stepping it up but it just doesnt seem to be happening for him

i didnt even know he fought this month until i looked him up while doing a bit of research
 
I thought he was going to be that dude. It increasingly looks like he won't be. At this rate, Richard Torrez--a guy he sparked in the amateurs--will have a better career. All bets on Itauma going forward.

i like Itauma, but its easy to get carried away, he needs to be properly tested before he tries to take on the big boys, i see Parker has said he will fight him, way too soon for that IMO

Parker’s not gonna fight him 6-7 weeks after his fight with wardley. Even if he comes out completely unscathed. He hasn’t fought more than 3 times a year in any of the last 10 years. Maybe he would fight Itauma next, but not mid December. I think he’s saying it to get in to wardleys head - ‘this fight is gonna be easy, I’ll be ready to go again within a couple of months’.

It is also way too soon as you say. I’m not completely buying the Parker hype. He’s still the same fighter, just under a better coach. I think there’s a very good chance Itauma could beat him, but he needs rounds and experience first. Hes fought 12 rounds across his last 9 fights, he most certainly isnt ready for a genuine top 3-5 contender

i dont think he needs to worry about Wardley, he cant really box, good puncher but i expect Parker to box rings around him

I agree, he’ll outclass wardley. But if he knocked him out with his first punch he still isn’t gonna be ready to fight mid December. This is also all risk, no reward for Parker. I’m sure he’d fight Itauma if it was lined up, but this isn’t a serious call out.
 
Jalolov looked awful. Very fragile and vulnerable looking against this Russian bum that was roughing him up. The latter used lots of mauling tactics, grappling, and was cross-facing him all night. This was only an 8 rounder but halfway through Jalolov looked not only drained but dejected. The Russian's relentless pressure gave him hell. I expect his handlers will keep him away from that style going forward.

the problem i see with Jalalov in this fight, and its entirely his fault this, he has stayed amatuer too long and his style just isnt suited to the pro game, he still fights very much like an amatuer and i think someone like Chisora would blow him out the water with pressure

if i was Itaumas team, i would be desperatly trying to get Jalalov into the ring after watching that, he would crucified and be a good "former double gold olympic champion" to have on his record
 
You know how many double Olympic champions we've had fight professionally at heavyweight? Jalolov is the first ever. Like you said if I'm Chisora I'd be licking my lips. I'd favor him at this point. Jalolov couldn't even deter this Russian fella. I thought he hit a lot harder than that.
 
I dont think Jalalov's handlers would want to see him get cracked by Chisora. Guy seems to still be adjusting to the professional ranks

Jalolov and Wilder have the same problem: they’re tall dudes with a good right hand who got lazy and never developed any other part of their game.

Jalolov is a southpaw. If you're saying that both rely too much on their rear hand then I agree. Wilder especially.
 
Jalolov's trainer in the pros is Gennady Mashianov. This is the same guy that trains Bivol and has been doing this full-time for nearly 50 years. He was in the corner for this fight. I don't think this was bad corner instruction. Jalolov just looked very much out of his depth against this particular style of opponent.
