Back in High School, we had 16k pet computers in our computer lab.

i remember mp3 first come out and we need 3 floppy disks to copy one song.

Also good old days we exchanges music/images/p00n via CD-ROM (700mb) with school mates

Brought my school memories back... We had really cool laptops at our community college sponsored by a local organization. However, our 65+ teachers did not want to use them and we had to manually write down everything they said. In fact, this technique wasn't utterly useless and it did have its' advantages. It helped me to become an academic writer once I had finished college. Not using computers at our English classes eventually helped me to learn to write without mistakes, so if you want me to help with essay writing, feel free to check this link: https://essaypro.com/write-my-essay.html. As for technologies, I would rather combine both old-school techniques with AR & VR gadgets. I'm a huge fan of innovative technologies hence they allow teachers to explain complex things with the help of visualized, easy to understand models. Have a look at these mind-blowing apps: https://thinkmobiles.com/blog/augmented-reality-education/. Old computers have become something of antiquity :D

Man did I love this thing :

Did anyone here walk 10 miles to school in the snow?

Each way of course.

One megabyte is 1000k. These mothers had 16k memory. If you wrote an essay with more than 6 paragraphs the computer would run out of memory. Plus they used a cassette recorder to save and load your projects. You would pop your cassette in, press play, wait 10 minutes or so, then 50% of the time it would not work so you had to start over, and THEN your three paragraphs were loaded. Of course, there was no windows so to even start you had to type in a bunch of basic code just to get the loading started.

Being born before the internet and living through it's rise has been pretty fucking wild. It is almost like those apocalypse movies where there are the old guys that remember "before" the end of the world.

I'm a bit younger but still remember my first PC (had an Amiga 500 before that). The first I owned (though I used to play at dad's work on 486DX's on weekends) was a Pentium I @ 133MHz with 32Mb of RAM and Voodoo Graphics (so not even a full Voodoo 1 or Banshee) with I think 16Mb of memory. It cost about $3,000 back in (iirc) 1994. That motherfucker was made work overtime - bro and I were stuck with it until 2001. The last thing it could run somehow was Quake 2 and to some extent C&C Tiberian Sun. I remember the fucking 1.6Gb hard drive and having to uninstall shit every time a new game came out. I felt #blessed when we got a whopping 3.2Gb "beast". Dear fucking god, those were the days...

I remember the old school computers like that in Kindergarden maybe 1st grade, by 5th grade the teacher had Windows 95 in the classroom and by 8th grade I was watching ECW New Jack balcony dive videos on the internet in the computer lab, you could barely see anything because they were so grainy/digitized and it took forever to load even though they were only 15 seconds long(sometimes it would just crash the whole computer).

Shit got real fast. I can't imagine being a kid in school now with social media/phones the way they are. It must suck.

Bro 1999 and uzing GoZilla! as a download manager because of its then unprecedented ability to continue an interrupted download. Then sitting like a fucktard in front of the screen waiting on a 3.4 meg file to download (maybe it's a Callus 95 ROM for Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, maybe a porn stash) and the fucking orgasmic joy of hearing the Godzilla scream at the end

Haha the joys of Basic in the 80's and the one program every guy knew to poke a friend.

10 Ron is gay
20 go to 10
Run

and then endless scroll down the screen

Ron is gay
Ron is gay
Ron is gay
Ron is gay
Ron is gay
Ron is gay
Ron is gay
Ron is gay
Ron is gay
Ron is gay
Ron is gay
Ron is gay

Good times.

As someone who remembers floppy disks, the cassette thing is blowing my mind.

I remember when the after the 5.4 floppy they made the smaller one with larger memory.

And this game was the shit at school!

It's a card game now that's pretty fun and good for laughs

Almost always ends up with sacrificing someone 80-90% of the way to Oregon because you're down to your last supplies, and saving them doesn't help the remaining party and might cause the rest to did if you use your last medicine for them
