I'm kind of in a predicament right now. I've quit caffeine for the last three weeks because I have been trying to get my diet and lifestyle on track. I've been a drinker of cokes ever since I can remember as a child and drank at least a energy drink a day for the past couple years.

I was taking magnesium pills as I quit to help with the headaches, which helped immensely, but I was consumed with some ridiculous back pain. So bad I thought I had injured myself. I could hardly stand straight up. Every time I sat down or laid down for any extended period of time it would hurt extremely bad to stand back up. Like my back was going to snap in half if I stood up completely straight. It was about 10 days of that before it finally started to subside. At that point I did some research and did see that caffeine withdrawal can lead to muscle aches and soreness so it made a lot more sense to me.

But still after three weeks I always had somewhat of a tight and sore back. It never effected my workouts though. I was still able to deadlift and squat without much problem. Once I started moving a lot and doing things with it, it seemed to be fine. But really just sitting and laying down caused all the issues. I thought after about 3 weeks I'd be a good part of the ways over with my withdrawal symptoms, but my back pain will not go away. To the point where I almost thought maybe it really wasn't the caffeine and maybe it was something else.

But last night I decided to go ahead and have me a monster energy drink, just because I knew I couldn't quit it forever, and just wanted to rid my system of it so I could have caffeine on occasion. As soon as I started drinking that monster my back felt fantastic. I was floored how normal it felt again. My whole body felt better somehow. But even this morning by back pain and stiffness has returned.

I don't know what to do. I want to live a healthier life and not consume coffee and sodas and energy drinks, but it seems like my body isn't getting used to not having them. At east my back isn't. I mean how long do I really need to go without it before its going to feel better? And obviously I broke my 3 week streak without it so is it ever going to be okay without it? Am I just destined to always have a little caffeine in my system everyday? Should I just find healthier alternatives to get it? Like green tea or something? or just drink a cup of coffee a day? I don't know what to do. I don't want my body to be dependent on anything anymore except water and healthy foods but this is getting ridiculous. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced

Just get a straight up caffeine supplement...wash it down with water. That way you aren't plugging all the extra stuff that energy drinks have into your system, you don't have to deal with the potential bloating that carbonated beverages can have, and you are saving money. Some no-doze will run you about $3 a box for a 24 day supply if you take 200mg per day.

Gotta be careful with Caffeine as it places lots of stress on the Kidneys and endocrine system, make sure to eat healthy after consuming.

Broscience guess: maybe the monster raised your blood pressure, increasing the bloodflow to your back, which helped the backpain?
