B.J. Penn at his best could potentially beat McGregor or Khabib.

Dude was able to defend TDs from Hughes, GSP and Fitch. That’s good reason to believe he could stuff a lot of Khabib’s. He also had one of the best guard games. His striking is far superior to Khabib’s. I’m not saying it’s absolute but I wouldn’t write it off.

He’d get a quick and easy TD against McGregor and make quick work with a RNC. I don’t think Ferguson is as good as McGregor and Khabib but he’d be harder for B.J.

He held a dazed Siver in sidecontrol for 2 minutes doing absolutely nothing

BJs GOAT Tier TD defense and phenom BJJ in his prime could give Khabib problems but Khabibs aggression and BJs suspect cardio would lead to a W for Khabib.

Connie Mac on the other hand would get murked. Prime BJ Penn also had a GOAT Tier chin. He’d box with Connie, till he gets bored takes him down and exposes that Irish Tier BJJ. If Nayt could sub Connie in 30 seconds once it hit the ground, The Prodigy would do it in 15 seconds.

Well, yeah. Penn was a special talent, but people have short memories and a horrible "what have you done lately" mentality.

At his best, Penn could potentially beat any lightweight in the history of the sport. He was that good.

I wish we could see prime vs prime but ehhhh.. Bj was a beast

Khabib wins anytime. Connie would likely lose.

I agree with you.
BJ had good standup, quick hands and was a killer on the ground.

BJ wouild easily beat Conor. Could stand with Conor and not get KO'd and once it hits the ground its over.

Khabib would be a harder fight. If BJ can keep it standing he'd win.

Prime bj would beat any fw today

Prime BJ lost to Frankie Edgar twice. I think Aldo and Holloway would be tough wins for BJ as well.

But yeah, prime Penn had the potential to beat anyone within twenty or thirty pounds of him.

The first fight was real close. Edgar is no joke and would give Khabib all he could handle too.

Huge BJ Penn fan.

He would definitely lose to Khabib. Too much pressure for a guy that has a tendency to fade as the fight goes on.

I'd give him a decent chance against Conor but most likely he would lose that too. His submissions and boxing give him some ways to win that fight but Conor most likely controls the range and runs away with the striking in the later rounds.

Agreed. Penn is a terrible match up for McGregor in that respect. The down side is that he couldn't really take advantage of McGregor's poor cardio. He'd swiftly sub McGregor on the ground, but would get the worst of the stand up.

BJ Penn at his best yes i agree would beat them. He was THAT good but people around here forget really quick or dont know shit.

People just look at records. They don’t actually watch and study fights.
